Ohhh, the red jelly that came out of him made such a mess that was the last time I saw him. Mom had a fit when it got all over the cat.

I had one very similar. Was only allowed to ride in 1st gear. I was probably 5 or so and after a few weeks of riding it, Dad showed me me how to shift gears hand clutch and all. I wound it up in first, shifted into 2nd and rode through a row of bushes and wrecked! Scared the hell out of me and was pretty scratched up from the bushes. I was crying and my Dad was laughing to hard to see if I was OK. But I survived and got back on and rode that thing everywhere...by myself...at 5 or 6. Try that today, it ain't gonna happen! Oh yeah...we didn't even know what a helmet was!

And when I think about it, the color red it was and the plastic, it makes me think of that Disney movie The Black Hole

Believe it or not, but my old Mongoose and Diamondback are still upstairs in my parents barn - equipped with some awesome early 90's plastic, 5-spoke mag wheels. I remember mowing lawns for an entire summer to buy a 3-piece sprocket and pedal set that weighed like .5lbs lighter. I guess I got into molding at an early age.

And to not totally derail the thread, yes, today's kids are mainly a bunch of Lilly livered softies.

What ever happened to stitching yourself up with some crazy glue and taking an aspirin for the pain?
