The technology for space based telescopes to peer into space is quickly adapted for spy satellites to find hidden bunkers. There are countless other examples I could cite if you wish.

But they are incredibly wasteful in their resources. As an organization, NASA has a lot of serious issues.
I agree with you. Me and my FIL had this conversation recently. That's why I said MOST of NASA. But do we really need to go back to the moon? Do we really need a manned mision to Mars?

National security, Cell service, Info services (tv, internet and such) are all a good product of NASA inovation. But why do we need to spend TP money on deep space exploration? If there was no national deficit and no national debt and companies like GM, Ford and Chrysler weren't teetering on the edge of ruin, I would be all for it.

A normal cooling cycle can mask a general warming trend, which is I believe what is happening. We'll see what happens this summer.

Have any of you considered that the end result of global warming is an ice age? The cooling could be a bad sign, or it could be a neutral sign, but it isn't a good sign either way.

A normal warming cycle can mask a larger cooling trend. They will use anything to bolster their argument. I mean how much sense does that make? The leveling off of the Global climate is evidence of global warming? Huh?

The global warming scare is as big of a business as the pharmaceutical industry. It is generaly beleived that we are for the most part duped into beleiving things are wrong that are really not. And that they could cure some things but won't due to the money made from the symptom treatements. I beleive this about Global warming.

People beleive these 'climate' theories because of what some scientists are saying. The same scientific community that can't figure out if the egg is good for you or not. Keep changing their minds. And now fight over whether we are in the milky way or not. WTF? Who cares.

Al gore is irresponsible and wreckless. But, hey, he did invent the internet.

It is worth noting that I did not blame global warming on humanity but pointed out that global warming does exist for whatever reasons it does it exist. Human interaction may or may not have made the warming or cooling of Earth any better or worse than it may or may not have been before this incident.

Stating it this way may or may not make me more or less biased toward any side, angle, or shape of this situation or lack thereof. :seesaw:

Agreed.

But I still couldn't give a rat ass if we are in the milky way or not.

A moon mission will be a stepping stone for a mars mission. You're all for the innovation that NASA has generated thus far, but who knows what developments will be made for a mission to Mars. It is the destiny of humanity to explore, it has been that way for millenia. There isn't much left to explore on Earth except the deep sea. You never know when a planet busting asteroid will come our way. Or how bad the next ice age will get. So ultimately, if the human race is to survive indefinitely, we need to get off this planet. The sooner the better.

oops That was waay deeper than I intended. And off topic. Sorta.

Maybe, I guess I'm a nationalist over a humanist. As we move farther away from free enterprise and capitolism and closer to socialism due to out of control federal spending it just pains me to see funds being used for anything that is not necessary to stay on top as a nation. I send over 3500.00 per month in to the federal gov and it angers me to see the waste.

Kind of an odd topic anyway.

Global warming!! Come to where I live this winter and I'll shove your theory on global warming back up your rectum, in the -27c we've endured this winter, to keep it warm!

And besides, global warming is a natural event that takes place like the ice age and the thawing of the ice age!

I'm all for being environmental, but look at all these greedy pigs cashing in on global warming sh!t!
