Ok guys. I went out and test drove a few cars this weekend. I wasn't able to test drive as many as I had planned but it was all good.

2009 BMW M3 silver coupe with 6sped manual, 15k miles. I loved driving this car! I found the fit and finish to be usual BMW, excellent! The power is deceptive, 414hp, it went very quick but it didn't really throw you back in the seat like a gold ol american torquey V8 does. Man, the growl of the engine was awesome. It revved like a damn Japanese sportbike! The salesman went with me and told me not to worry about the miles so, we went for a 50 miles test drive, some of it in twisties. Man, this thing rocks! I have a e36 M3 and I always enjoyed driving it in the canyons, you can feel its limits and it makes me feel one with the car. But the new M3 just drove itself, more or less. The coupe is nice but I wished they had a sedan, I prefer the 4-door M3 a little more. Dealer wants $57k for it, told them I'd think about it.

2011 Mustang 5.0, red with 6spd manual tranny. Ahhhhh, the Camaro nemesis. I liked the wide bulge/hood scoop. The exterior fit and finish was so-so. The interior to me, looked and felt dated but I like the lay out. Honestly, it felt just as fast as powerful as the SS and I knew it wasn't much or any quicker but it sure felt like it goes quicker though. The stock exhaust note is actually better than the SS'. Anyway, I was suprised at how nicely it handled. The live axle's typical behaviour in the turns wasn't there or at least, I didn't detect much or it. It actually felt planted! Anyway, to make this short, it is a Mustang. The appearance is so-so, the back end is still horrible. It would take a Roush appearance kit to make me want one.

2011 Shelby GT500 race red with SVT and nav packages $55k. Well, I only got to look, touch, sit, in this one. It was in the showroom. But a 2010 one was in the lot, still new, dealer wants $45,900 which is a nice deal. Anyway, I knew I didn't want it but asked for a test drive anyway. The sales guy had to ask the Sales Manager for permission. I know them well so off we went. The big truck engine under the hood is immediately noticeable at the first turn from the driveway. This is the reason why I am not gonna settle for the 2010 if I were to get a GT500. The 2011 is an aluminum block and is 100+ pounds lighter. Anyway, the power is intoxicating. The live axle did short dances a few times but no too bad. This one didn't have the SVT package. My supercharged SS would eat it no problem but the Shelby felt different power wise. And I love the supercharger whine! The Maggie on teh SS without the cog drive is just too quiet. I liked the Shelby interior and exterior. The stock exhaust note is too tame for a big supercharged engine but there is a ton of exhaust market for this car. Anyway, driving this car and driving the M3 in the same day will open your eyes about the different approach that most import car makers vs american car makers. The M3 is like a ginzo knife whereas the 5.0 and the GT500 are more like Gimli's battle axe.

I also test drove a 2011 Corvette and a 2008 Z06....will write about it in a bit.

I would go with either a z06, viper or a gray shelby gt500 with red stripes. Always been my favorite color lol.

My vote would be for the GT500

I test drove one a month ago. I love it!!

Now I'm trying to convince my parents to trade my car for a 2011 GT500 LOL

It looks so orange in the picture! Looks good though, I would love to have a grey one with black stripes.

Nice choice, they're great cars. As for keeping it stock. . . big mistake imo. If you're going to modify any car, the gt500 is the one. You could always just slap a smaller pulley on there, get an sct xcal to tune it and exhaust. Exhaust won't void the warranty and if you need to take it to the dealer, it will take 20 minutes to swap pulleys back and change the tune back to stock. Either way, enjoy your new car!
