I know in WV 20 Over is reckless Driving. You can lose you're license. But most of the time if you're not a complete Butt to the cop they usually will mark it down.

Wreckless driving is far different from reckless driving!

Depends. In NC if the speed limit is 55 or more and your caught doing 15 or more over it can be.

I have a hard time feeling any sympathy for the OP...He admitted he was speeding at least over 85...and is bitchin because he got ticket with an estimated speed on it? Whether it's written for 85 or 105 or whatever speed...he should MAN UP and take responsibility for his actions. Then quit speeding....

This thread isn't me bitching about the unfairness of the situation. I was speeding, i like going fast, i'll own up to it. I'm just trying to figure out the best defense I'll have in court, and the best way I can keep this off my insurance. I mentioned all the details on the ticket (such as the fact that it was estimated) not because i'm complaining about it, but so that I could get some real help, from guys who understand the fun of going fast .

Thank you everybody. So far I feel a lot more prepared to fight this thing and excercise some of my constitutional rights

The thing is, when I speed I tend to keep a very close watch out for cops. I'm a young guy, so I saw this cop about a 1/4 mile away (I was coming down a large hill and he was waiting at the bottom). Naturally, I slowed down to 65 long before I got anywhere near the cop car (I was only going 85 or so). As I passed him, I noticed he had a radar pointed at the road.
However, on the ticket, he wrote down that the speed he calculated was only estimated. From this, I can deduce that I had managed to slow down to the speed limit by the time I came within the range of his radar.

When I first noticed the cop, I did not stomp on the brakes, but slowed down slowly because I had seen him so early I figured I had plenty of time. Perhaps because I slowed down for so long he thought I was going faster than I was (like the 100 mph he wrote on the ticket).

I admit to speeding, yet the ticket itself is incorrect. I appealed it obviously (do not have enough money to throw it around like that). Is there any chance I might be able to not argue that I was not speeding, but merely argue that the ticket is incorrect?

Any help is appreciated guys, looking for a good defense I can argue. And please no derogatory remarks I cannot tell you how much I regret this already, I don't need other people bashing me as well. Just looking for help. Thanks

Ummm, I can only hope the cop reads & prints out this post and brings it to court with him. You're totally admitting your guilt on a public forum in case you were oblivious to the fact. Slow down before you kill someone. If you want to go fast, take it to the track.
And we wonder why our Camaros are such cop magnets. Thanks, dude.

I got a warning ticket for going 65 in a 55 zone. The trooper followed me for about three miles be4 pulling me over. I think he just wanted to checkout my Camaro.

If the cop not only takes the time to search on forums across the web but also connect my profile to my actual identity, props to him, he deserves my 450 bucks

In this small town I live in, if we fight our tickets.....it's an open season for cops on our ass. I like to drive 69 mph.

At the risk of starting this as a massive argument, which I don't want to happen... From one of us on the other side... Its not the car, its the driver's actions we are looking at. I mean its sorta in a guy's DNA to look at a nice sports/muscle car, but as far as enforcement action I could care less if you are in a $300,000 Lambo or a $400 1980 Oldsmobile. They all look the same in the sights of my LIDAR. Just saying... and thats a good overall post to the OP.
