Thanks for all the compliments, I really appreciate it.

The bed is being finished up this week and the wiring and plumbing has been started.
I get to take my weekly visit on Friday to the progress and take pictures.

A few more things about the truck, minor little details that people normally don't notice, but if your looking at this thread you probably know about older Chevy trucks and will know what I am talking about.

On the inside of the cab where it was originally put together it had seems in the front on the A-pillars and the rear of the cab. On the A-pillar I had the seems welded and worked smooth, a small touch, to make it line up.

The engine assembly will have an OBDII, ( I think that is what it is called) under the dash so it can be plugged in to a computer and check diagnostically for codes and tuning purposes.

Has an Ididit Tilt Steering column, which will be equipped with a Torque Thrust Steering Wheel to match my wheels.

The bed will have bolt less wood installed in it. For those who do not know in older model trucks the bed strips had many bolts that held them down plus the bed wood had 6 big bolts with 3 " washers that kinda held it all together. Well today they have a system in which you can put the wood in the bed and not have any fasteners showing, just a nice little trick that looks really good.

Still trying to decide on the exhaust right now, unfortunately everything has to be custom made and that word Custom means Money Money Money.

LOL,

Hey the wheels don't Vibrate, LMAO. Seriously thet are American Racing Torque Thrust polished, kinda wished now that I had went with chrome but oh well I own them now.

Well one day we will have a beer and discuss this build. It has definitely tried my patience and my good nature, not to mention hers. Let's just say I had to light a fire under this shop in the last couple of weeks to get things moving at a pace that I am comfortable with.

They do great work, body panel are all about 4mm or the width of a paint paddle so the quality of work is not as issue just the pace. But I have it in writing now a stone cold, locked it completion date come hell or high water, or in our case ICE Storm.

Thanks Em.

From what I have been "TOLD" I should have around 525 hp. I am sure that is to the crank but it should have a nice little get up and go to it.

I was under the impression that I would have a nice little lick to it but I will have to see once it is fired up and running, I would hate to do a cam swap on this thing, LOL.

Nice Work

I love the paint & Can't wait to see pictures of it finished ! One of my favorite colors.I once sprayed my 56 Chevy that color, but when the paint shop custom mixed the paint it came out the Monte Carlo brandywine color & it a little deeper tone to it.Oh well I lived with it until I sold it a few years back.Nice story, nice truck & I am sure you will be grinning ear to ear when it is "on the road again".Nice song don't ya think ?

Oh yea, it has been a few years since it has seen the road.

My Uncle was originally from New Orleans, until he move to Birmingham when I was a kid. He worked for Delta Air Lines for 36 years, so when I was a kid he would kick in the old 8 track of Fats Domino.

So my plan is when I pick the truck up I have a CD made of good ole Fats himself I am going straight to his house and pick him up and we are going for a ride on the same country road that he took me on nearly 37 years ago, and yes I still remember the song that was playing that day when we hit a 100. " I'm gonna be a wheel some day" I am going to crank it up and let it rip. My Uncle is now 67 and can still enjoy days like this, he is a car nut too.

Weekly Friday Update

Well went to see Mr Hyde today and check the progress. Wiring has commenced and is just about completed, not really good for pictures though. All that has to bedone is the connectors have to be attached to the ends of the wires and plugged in.

Ride height has been set, front is 3/4" lower than the rear which I like.

Ordered a BUNCH of things from LMC truck parts, mainly rubber parts lke weather stripping, door & hood bumpers and things like that.

Trailing arms are being boxed, rear is being painted, bed has been squared and assembled and waiting on the new hidden hardware strips for installation.
Raer Fenders will be installed tomorrow and checked for centerline on the rear, the will be removed and final buffing will be done, then final assembly completed.

Looks great.

May I suggest a different more modern air cleaner. Those were cool in the 90's with LT1's but there's better stuff now available, like http://www.spectreperformance.com.

If not its still a pretty truck.

Big Dan,

I appreciate the info. I went to the link but really could find what you were talking about. I really dont like this air cleaner but this was all that Street and Performance offered with theri fuel injection system.

I figured that I would get some great ideas here by alot more knowledgable people and was kinda the reason I posted here. this truck had been in the making for a LONG LONG time.

I have almost committed hairy cairy with this shop cause of the length of time it is taking, When I bought the wheels Torque Thrust were all the Rage too, but I ain't buying another set of wheels.

They Were "SUPPOSED" to make me a CAI for this truck, but at this point I just want it finished and I can tweak it later. But I like the idea of a new air cleaner.

Slowly but surely it is getting done, but you know about all the nightmares Ham. Good news is I have it pinned down to a completion date now and with a little " Pressure" He seems to see it my way now. lol
