But we also didn't say there wouldn't be a V6. Just haven't received confirmation as to what will go into the 6th gen.

Remember...GM has a 3.0L TT V6 going into the Cadillac XTS and LaCrosse GS soon...

How many engines are they planning on using. 3+ doesn't sound too cost effective. Especially if they plan on doing a high performance model.

There would be a T4, V6, and two, maybe three V8's? (if they do a mid level V8 and high performance)

As of now, all we know of is the T4 and the Gen V V8. I have heard that the Gen V will come in a 5.3L displacement as well.

that's what i was saying in another thread. lol not to mention the 4 and 6 might be forced induction...would there be an N/A option too?

Hot damn, the four cylinder hurts my heart, but the thought of a modern 6.2 in a 3series sized car makes up for it. Hot damn!

Figure it would have to be a 250-300 hp T4 would cost more to engineer and build than a comperable V6. You could have a NA V6 deliver the same power, with equally good fuel economy, for less money. Only situation where I see engines like that making sense are in something like the Hyundai Sonata where the car is designed around not having a V6. The engine bay is optimized for only one engine which simplifies the engineering as well as production and saves weight in the process. But if the Camaro is going to have a V8 anyway, you'd lose those benefits.

So to go with a T4 as the base engine, you add cost for the engine, add cost for the platform, and then don't add any value to the customer? How does that make any sense?

Can't really say. We'll just have to wait and see.

I just don't buy into the current line of thinking that turbos = 2 more cylinders. There are advantages and disadvantages to each. But every time I see their stats, I fail to be impressed by those turbocharged engines.
