No deal, remeber what is optional on the mustang (track pack) is considered standard equipment on the Camaro SS. I still believe the camaro will still beat the mustang on a race track pretty easily. In a 1/4 mile drag race it will be close, pretty much a drivers race with a slight advantage to the Camaro in my Opinion. Remeber the 2011 Camaro gets optional 3.73 gears too, combined with 426hp and 420lbs of torque things are going to get interesting.

Wow you are a slow bunch. How is it that the Mustang, which will put on weight from: A. the 5.0 engine B. 6 speed tranny (ill believe it when i see it) C. Safety regulations come in More than 300lbs less than the Camaro, when the current lighter mustang isnt even 300lbs less.

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

6 speeds will be standard across the board at Ford, and that includes the Mustang. Hell, by the time the Camaro comes out(now I'm hearing October?), the Mustang will have to 5.0. I'm saying the Mustang will have close to a 300lb advantage, you say they will be even. We'll see who's closer to the truth. I was right about the 2010 and I'll be right about the 2011. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=165 http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=282 |

it didnt add ANYTHING. how could the 2010 model add weight? The only thing the camaro boys are guilty of would be assuming ford wants to update their products in a timely manor to keep them productive and competitive

As for weight vs. power. Let's see what really matters.... 2010 Camaro - 3860 lbs / 426HP = 9 lbs per HP. Mustang - How much will it weigh with that 6 speed and 5.0???? If you say 300lbs less....that's fine...how much HP???? Let's figure it in HP/lb and see? I Googled and all I can find is "close to 400HP for the 2011 Mustang's 5.0". I have no idea if that's right or not but using that number and your 300 lbs less: 2011 Mustang - 3560 lbs/ 400HP = 8.9 lbs per hp But we're all guessing on what a 2011 Mustang MIGHT have. GM will likely upgrade the HP on the Camaro in 2011 as well. So we should really compare 2010 models: 2010 Camaro 9.1 hp per pound of weight. 2010 Mustang 3572 lbs / 315HP = 11.3 lbs per HP = Mustang looses. Heck, my supercharged V6 4Runner puts down 300HP. Mustang GT pffffft. |

Good god did the Mustang fanboys come out of the woodwork. Looks like they also came to troll no less. or ![]() EDIT: Also, the 'October' date is the date that people that ordered in January or ordered over the dealer allotments would receive their vehicles. If you ordered last October you should be getting a Camaro in April. If you didn't order, then you can just buy one off the lot in April. That'd be the same day your precious Mustang arrives at your dealerships. |

http://www.leftlanenews.com/nhtsa-pu...h-ratings.html The Camaro and 370Z are ready, the mustang is living on borrowed times. But in anycase assuming it gets a 5.0 V8+ 6spd trannys+ larger Brakes to slow a 400hp car down= about 100 or slightly more weight increase. So 3572+100= 3672lbs divided by 400= 9.18 pounds per HP. I think it will be close, pretty much a drivers race with an adavatage to the camaro when equipt with 3.73 gears.. |
