Jaws of life and 1/2 hour of work to get me out.
When I hit the 91 year old lady, I was knocked out with my head on the passenger floor and my legs facing the drive side door. When the truck hit me, my legs snapped like twigs and my plevis folded in half. In the end, my feet pushed all the way up to the thigh area. I agree -- thank God. I thank him every time the thought of that mess crosses my mind. |

That is amazing. Glad to hear you recovered. Did you get medically retired? or were you able to stay in?

She didn't have insurance or a pot to pee in. She was driving an old 70's Ford LTD on it's last legs.
Unfortunately, in this case, the taxpayer had to pick up the tab when the USAF had to pay all of the bills instead of her insurance. I believe that our system fails badly on allowing the elderly to drive without tests. I believe that after the official retirement age, the elderly should be required to take an annual or bi-annual hand-on driving test. |

Believe it or not, they were able to piece me back together enough to be world wide qualified. All of the bones in my legs are still titanium cored and I have stainless steel fasteners galore in my body but I manage OK. I was offered a medical, but I am patriotic to the core and I was willing to do whatever it took to finish my enlistment. |
