Not even a 4th Gen Z/28? Or a Trans Am? Besides the window issues a high mileage Z/28 is a damn reliable car. Also plenty (relatively speaking) of hauling room in the back because like the 5th gen, all 4th and third gens had folding rear seats.

I'd go for a base V6 3.8L car with a few power options. They can be had for around 5K or less with decent miles if you search. And that 3.8L can be coupled to a supercharger if you want some more oomph. Just buy a salvaged unit from a GXP Grand Prix or a Regal GS. Clean her up, hook it up with the wiring units from the donor car and voila.. Granted you'll need a different pulley and intake but why the heck not?

Pushing 270hp with a tune. That's LT1 territory, son. Don't doubt the 4th Gen.

Tac, do you realize how insane your insurance is going to be with a Mustang GT?

Yeah I know, but I wouldn't have my own. I'd be on my parents.

Insurance would be high on any sports car.

That only works if there are more drivers than cars at the house. If they each have a car, the third one gets put in your name.

Depends actually.
We have three cars and three drivers. My name is on mine, it's not any higher because of it, and everyone is covered equally accross the board no matter what car we drive. If one of my parents were to be put under my car instead of me, we would pay the same.

Same here, although I think the Envoy is still registered under my dad's name, but we're all equally covered for all three of our cars.

My insurance is super cheap though since I'm over 90 miles away or whatever from home for most of the year.
