Dogs are like 3 yr old kids. He is jealous. It will take time but he will get used to it, you need to give him more attention, its not about her and what she is or isnt doing.
He feels he has lost you to her. |

Pack hierarchy is one thing, a jealous dog is another. The dog is used to living with you alone, if she takes the appeasement route he will own here. What happens when he wants his way and she cant appease him?
I have a non submissive breed... it's all about you setting the tone. He needs to know when he is stepping out of line, you don't do that be rewarding bad behavior. Dogs act up when their needs arent being met. I would give him more attention, take him for walks and play with him. Take her wihjt you and him for walks, have her feed him and then walk him alone. Just giving him gifts will reaffirm in his mind he is being good .. so unless you correct the problem first then your only making it worse |

As a dog training instructor by profession, my advice is to sign her up at PetSmart for a Beginner dog training course. It's fun and she will build her relationship with your dog as a "leader". The training instructor will help her understand the dog better, and help him learn to respect her. I have had husband/wife/Great Dane teams come through my classes and sometimes the wife needs an equalizer (halti, or gentle leader or easy-walk harness) because of how strong a Dane is. PetSmart has a 100% satisfaction guarantee so if you're not confident by the end of the six week course you can take it again free.
Right now Moose is being forced to share his resources (you) with her. This might be one thing. Another thing is he took HER items and tore them up, which indicates to me a bit of anxiety about her being gone. When they shred something that smells like you and then scatter the shreds about the area, it's to scare predators off, and I'm sure your lady will be thrilled to know her scent scares predators away... Hope that helps! |

Just have your wife start a relationship with your dog. i was in the same situtation, me and my dog were a pair that couldn't be broken and when my gf would come over he would get between us until she moved away a couple of feet. Same goes for when she would sleep over. he always sleeps on the edge of my bed and then goes to his bed. anytime my little brother or my gf would sleep on my bed he would make it very uncomfortable for them. (he usually leaves after 5 mins of me laying in bed to his bed when we are alone-but stays all night when someone else is there). The best thing is like everyone is saying is to build a relationship between your wife and the dog.
P.S- i have had plenty of arguements over it, i guess some people don't know the bond between their pet and the owner.
