It sounds like you're doing it right. There will be some weeks you will loose more and some less and some not at all but don't get discouraged if you're eating right and exercising you're on track. If you go for an extended period without progress shake it up a little, sometimes you may have to eat MORE. Your body has a way of adapting to what you throw at it. If you are on a calory defecit for a long period your body reacts and goes into the starvation mode so trick it by eating more for a day or two. Also this is why I mentioned earlier we should be concerned with fat loss not weight loss. You have been eating perfectly and exercising hard with weight and jump on the scale and you gained 5 lbs, what the heck you say, well if you built muscle, which in fact does weigh more than fat you will see a weight gain. It won't happen that fast especially if you're a woman. Even for a man building five pounds of muscle doesn't come easy for most unless your genetically gifted or on steroids. I would suggest that if people are serious go to your local GNC or healthfood store and get a body fat caliper. It doesn't have to be fancy Acumeasure is one that comes to mind they are inexpensive. As long as you take measurments the same way each time you can measure your reduction in body fat, this is much better than weight watching because fat reduction and muscle building/tonning is actually what the goals here are.

hahahaha lol

I remember those days!

My daughter and I went to the Gym tonight and she followed me and did my circuit workout with me, I think she's stronger than she realizes, she kept using really light weight but thats ok, I kept telling her that she's doing great and she has to start somewhere. She would start lifting the weight and would say oh this is so easy then by the 6th or 7th rep she was like ok I'm finished because it was getting harder then I'd say "HEY DON'T STOP THERE! GIVE ME 3 MORE"!!!!!! LOL I went all sargeant on her, it was fun!!!!! And she's gonna be sore tomorrow! hehe
You wouldn't want to see my pic. I'm old and fat. I suppose if I am giving advice I should show my face so here ya go picture of an old dude.

When I did the bulk of my weight loss last year, I gave myself 2 days a month. That way I wasn't telling myself "I can't have this or that", instead it was "only 5 more days until I can have this".

I didn't really see them as cheat days, but as reward days.

Friday morning. Report in day. Down 4 lbs. since Monday. No cheating, no beer, no night time snacks, no vending machines, nothing but a well balanced program.

Did great last year, I went from 185 lbs down to 138 lbs = 47 lbs in 19 weeks

( lost the most weight the few weeks I had sprained ankle, along w/ my year long wrist injury. it was very hard to drive a 6 speed. now I only have to shift left handed.)

But went back up to 158 lbs

Goal - lose 30 lbs for me, and 60 lbs for my wheels

Down 4 lbs scene 12-29-10 to 154lbs

Wish I could work out too, but due to wrist surgery I can't

My plan is not to check the scale for a couple of weeks. But I will say that my brand new pants are very loose already! I feel great too.

Friday update:

Well I didn't actually start until Tuesday this week, but overall has been a good week. Started at 174.2 and am at 172.8 today.

I figure 1.25 pounds a week = 5 pounds a month which is a good pace to maintain during weight loss. So am off to a good start in 2011.

What a great start

Congrats to you who lost the weight you wanted to lose and
badgebunny for getting those snug fitting pants to loosen up
that's always a good feeling.

I lost 6 lbs, but I know next week will be a challenge to see much
difference, but I'm committed to stay with it and thank all of you
for your support and ideas.

I'll post the current status to the list of participants at the
beginning of the thread a little later today. It will be a quick
look for everyone to see how we are doing as a group.

Thanks again to everyone......I'm so fired up to make this happen

GREAT START - LET'S KEEP IT UP

You should look in to this, just got one a few weeks ago for $90 and love it. It's small light and surprisingly stable, even on the carpet. Took me a few minutes to get use to it because I never use an elliptical before.( i always hurt myself on the tread mill.)
