Zabo's Exploder..Explodes.

Black Ice = Dooj Kabilur for me.. -_- Pics to come later (of the Kabilur, dunno if I can get pics of the Exploder).

Gist of the story: Was driving East down I-94 inside Portage Michigan, on my way to NAIAS of all places. Crossed a bridge, truck felt some ice, then got a little hungry.

First thing it saw was a guard rail covered in snow. I told it "Down boy..you don't eat that stuff" but nope. Didn't listen. So it just barreled into the rail, and cost me every piece of plastic on the front end of that truck.

Total damage costs for OEM parts: $2007.00

For once, I love insurance..

Oh, and did I forget to mention that the tow-hooks were so ingeniously bolted to the frame in a manner that any slight collision like this would BEND THE FRAME TIPS! Damn Ford..you trying to make some extra cash off this? Collision guy at the dealership agreed. But this is why I pay premiums..

-_-

It's good that you're okay. I like the style of storytelling you used here.

Unfortunately no. I may sneak into the shop and check on her when the adjuster gets there on monday. I will say though that for a 60MPH crash, the Exploder survived quite well. Also, that price was OEM parts.

Collision guy said it was company policy to just throw the OEM price out there, but we just redrew the quote up in after market parts. In a college town, you know who your customers are XD!

Oh, and some schmuck had a stang in the shop..I felt so compelled to take a piss on it. Too much customer lounge coffee.

Eh, if I had the money over what Encompass gave me, I'd repaint the whole vehicle flat primer black at the collision center. Less work for them and it'll only be a 4WD beater once my camaro is parked in my driveway.

May put a little more money over time, lower her slightly to offset the High COG and strengthen the suspension, turn it into a Pike Peak rally truck and/or Drag truck. Then throw a 5.0 V8 off of a wrecked Explorer and a new transmission/rear end off of a wrecked Cobra into the beast. It's nice to know that the vehicle is already set to mate to a manual and V8 off the bat. XD

Bump for WTF news:

Called the dealership this afternoon to check up on the truck. I was really getting sick and tired of the Kabilur rental especially after 5 inches of new snow. So they said yesterday that it was going to be done today.. and their new response was that it'll be done on friday.

But that's not the WTF part.

The WTF part is that they're actually going to clean and detail the WHOLE DAMN TRUCK on the insurance company's dime and this was why it'll be done friday. I almost laughed at that, but the shop manager said my truck looked like she needed it.

So in the end, I got a repaint and a detail out of some busted fiberglass and plastic. I can't wait to see what they did on friday with my old pinstripe job. If they fixed it.. I'd die.
