Matrix, you need an outlet, dirtbikes worked for me, snowmobiles might work for you seeing where you live. With either one of them you can get it out of your system. Otherwise like some of the others suggested, find you a track. I'd also suggest a quality radar detector so you will know when your being had and shed some speed. But honestly 60 mph over the limit twice in a month and you feel you can't quit???? You may need to go see DR Phill.

Put your speed limiter back in and lower it down to just over the fastest speed limit in your area. And then if you ever go to the track or anything like that you can just take it back off. Just my .02

Where in Canada do you live!? Can't be Ontario...They would have impounded your car on site for 150 km/h! They don't play here! That would be considered street racing-doesn't matter if you are or not. BTW find a local track where you can get your fix safely! I hope you can get yourself in check before you hurt yourself, or someone else :(

I truly hope this is a wake up call for me. Not that the speeding tickets really hurt me financially its that I cannot afford to to lose my license. Since my divorce, its just me and my kid in Canada. We dont have any relatives at all here (we both moved from England) so I am basically mom/dad/bread earner etc. SO I HAVE to be responsible and make that change, but its so difficult at times to go slow when your used to fast. Its like falling alseep. LOL!! But I guess I will need to learn!

Is this just something with Dodge cars? I clocked 117MPH in a rental CALIBER SXT going home from class on a whim.
117MPH in a 1.8L 4CYL at 3800RPM!! WTF!? My Exploder couldn't do this in it's wettest dreams without shaking itself apart.. It was totally awesome though. And the only reason I got away with it was because at that point in I-94 the East and West bound lanes are at different levels (road itself is on a slight hill side perpendicular to the direction of traffic) so there couldn't be a cop there even if they wanted one. |

I know.. I was shocked when I looked down at the spedo.
OH SHI- was all I got out before the oil change warning dinged in my ear.. Looks like I used up those last miles a bit too quickly.. Luckily I'm probably getting the Exploder back tomorrow. So if I can repeat this in the Exploder, I'll be happy. If not; Engine/trans swap is a definite future project. EDIT: Make that within 12-14 hours.. I forgot it was already wednesday. |

I used to be the same way. You just need to realize that unless your driving ten hours to a location, speeding only saves you probably a minute or two. Seriously is it really worth the chance of getting a ticket. Not for me it isn't.

I'm sorry to hear about the ticket. IMVHO, the suggestions about taking your car to a track or finding another outlet like a dirtbike and such are great too. I use the cruise control all the time because of what you're having problems with. We have law enforcement in our area looking for any reason to pull people over to look over their car for illegal stuff because racing has been really bad around here. Maybe, once you see how you get jacked by your insurance company that might be enough to remind you to drive a little safer. Also, like you already said, since it's costed so much for past infractions, maybe just keep that wasted money in mind. For me, having a family, if I think about what could happen if I drive like that and hit another car (or cause another car to crash) and how that would effect their family/loved ones; that usually snaps me back into reality. Maybe I'm just gettting old and grumpy, but the thought of what I would feel if someone driving wreckless hurt my family/friends is encouragement enough not to drive that way. The cost of tickets and insurance are good reminders too, LOL.
Keep it safe man. How would you feel if someone hurt (or worse) your mom, dad, brother, sister, girlfriend, etc.? I bet you probably wouldn't be too pleased. I just hope you drive like this when you're not around anyone. Anyways, good luck and I hope that you find what you're looking for. Respectfully...

Don't you have a point system in B.C.? I would protect my points at all cost! I would rather be fined $1,000 and no demerit points then fined $50 bucks and 10 demerit points. The insurance companies find out you've got more points you have and you give them the green light to take your mortgage money.

I think going to a track would help a lot. A nice road course (or even a really bad one) every now and then should make driving at 200k on public roads seem boring.
OT: how fast does the fuel needle move when you're doing that? Its gotta drink it down about 5x faster than normal.
