Does your spouse hate your musclecar?

My spouse thinks it is immature to drive a mustang and that I should be driving a lexus or a camry. Or honda civic, etc.

Am I the only one who is in this situation? Just curious.

Really!
Has she ever ridden in one? I have no doubts she'll feel differently after being propelled to 60 from naught.....I doubt Lexi, or company 'T's cars can give the same feeling....

.....Is she a "Toyotas are God" person?.........

I have not and currently have no plans to settle down, but the last few girls I have dated have been split down the middle.
My last GF had an 03 Mustang GT and she drove it like sports car should be drivin (if you consider Mustangs a sports car, like my dad always says, Mustangs are a Girl's Camaro! But I was proud of how she did drive, she was pissed my 85 Chevy truck beat her though. She loved running a 1/4 mile with me, the occasional smoke show, and the noise.
The girl before her had no preference, actually she was against it, she was pissed that it got only got 7mpg, you smelled of exhaust after a 5 mile trip, and that it was too loud.

It may be different for those married who have to share income, but for me anyway, I think this is kind of a mute point, not that its not a good subject, but I don't see any girl looking at the new Camaro, and say, OMG a muscle car, eew. It will be more like, daaamn... thats a hot car. Can I have a ride? And I will be more than happy to oblige.

Before my wife and I got married, I had the S10 Chevy truck. She always knew that I wanted a Camaro. While we were dating, I bought my first V6 (only because I couldn't afford the Z28).

We got married. The Z28 was still in the works. She had the car she wanted (parents bought it for her as a graduation present). When I went in to take delivery of my Z28, I had to tap the savings for the downpayment. It was a few grand. She wasn't happy about that, but was happy to see me happy. Regardless, we were both working and that few grand was replaced by both of us rather quickly.

As time went on, the mods slowly came. A couple hundred here...a couple hundred there. This is when she began w/ the "your car costs too much." and the "no more modifying your car" began. Then, there was a couple problems...lost the tranny at 6K miles. Don't know why that happened. It was covered under warranty, but she felt that my musclecar was problematic.

The rest of the problems were normal...messed up cats (covered under warranty), messed up window motor (warranty), etc. All of it was what could have been called normal wear and tear (tires), but her view of my musclecar declined. This is what started to make her unhappy. She still liked my Z28, but thought it had "problems."

Then, I got my SS. Right off the bat, I had to get tires..."Oh my gosh...more money." hehehehe Normal wear and tear stuff again. I didn't spend any money to do any mods on this one, but everytime I had to get an oil change, I'd have to drive it 30 min to get to my dealer. This ticked her off. "Why not just take it down the road?", she'd say. All repairs and normal work are done at ONE place.

She loves my SS, but thinks it costs too much. I have to remind her that her SUV is under warranty and is "new" meaning that problems don't happen as often. On top of that, you don't get into modifying a grocery getter w/ intake and exhaust.

It's funny because she does want us to get a Toyota. I kind of withheld the fact that my car has stiffer shocks. She thinks it is uncomfortable, which in comparison to a soft SUV, it is rougher, but to me I need it to be that way, because that is what works best on the highway. She has her own SUV.

Anywho, just thought I would ask about this. She does like sports cars. She likes the 350Z. i don't like the Z car because I read their was a problem with the front tires on the Z wearing out fast due to engineering problem.

I am amazed that I own an American car that is actually very reliable mechanically. I have not had any major problems. (but I also just drive it normal. it has never been raced or abused. perhaps a few times when I first bought it.)

Thank you for posting TAG that you might have a similar issue I have. It is weird because I know I could buy any car I want. To me my car meets my immediate needs. I don't find myself wishing I had something better or newer. I don't really like the new design of the current mustang. It has it's share of problems. Starting with an electronic gas pedal. I think I will stick with my mechanical throttle linkage, thanks.

I should get an econobox car sometime and put my car away. I just don't feel like doing that right now.

Well, this is kinda awkward. First, I am not married, and second I don't own a car. But anyway, I do have a long term girlfriend and she does approve of my (future) Camaro. She wants a Dodge Charger though, with a V6, for economy. I had to explain that you don't buy muscle cars for economy. Some day she will understand

My girlfriend's the same way, but I've already got the economy car, so I can get the Muscle Car without going into the cost realm. Although, the fuel economy of the Camaro is not that much lower than my Corolla. It's an automatic, so I usually get about 27 mpg City and about 36 highway.

my wife wants me to get the new camaro, with the hope that I wont talk about it anymore...lol how wrong she is! unfortunately she's a toyota fan, cause her pops put it in her head that they make better quality cars since she can remember(yeah I know...and this guy was born in 59 and retired army!). so she knows nothing about the history of our muscle cars. to this day when i pass another camaro, or mustang and we both rev our engines in passing, she looks at me and says "I still dont get it"

My g/f wants a G35 auto. She wants the sedan because it's professional looking. She approves of my Camaro because she knows she'll have to anyways. She likes the look of it though.

My future family better like my Camaro because they are all going to cram into it like me and my little sis used to in my dads 85 Z28. Come to think of it me and my sis still cram into the back his 96 Z whenever we go to miami and im just about 6 foot lol!

The new G37, WOW, it is HOT! only in coupe though.
