WOW! 1001 mph? That has got to be a new record of some kind!

I hope he knows how to enjoy such a car.

The Bugatti is very impressive. Yes, the Cadillac 16 has 1000HP, but it's not street legal. But it's an impressive concept none the less.

I love that Caddy
http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/cars/...ac_sixteen.asp

heres what I don't get, not sure if its Bugatti being a wuss, by not having larger cylinder or if its GM needing the displacement to get the the power. (which i would hope not)

Buggatti = V16 - 8.0 liter - 1001hp
Caddy = V16 -13.6 liter- 1000hp

How come each of our cylinders are so much bigger, yet don't get the extra hp. If Buggatti bored out their cylinders, would it just be monster or what?

The Caddy doesn't have 4 turbos, or a "W" engine setup.....

So here's my GM plug: the Caddy is making virtually the same power (and slightly better mileage) as the Bugatti, but Naturally aspirated.

If it did have those, though...are we looking at 1500hp?

the thing is the Caddy 16 is a new style of V-engine. its not just 2 v-8s welded together, but a whole new look at the v-8. whereas the bugatti is a W-16...with turbos. the caddy has DOD, and can shut down up to 12 of its cylinders to save on fuel economy.

look at the dyno curves between the two vehicles, yeah they can both peak at 1000 hp, but which one can keep the power/torque up all day long?
as far as the bore size goes, the smaller bores on the bugatti allow it to run to a lot higher rpms.

GM is just keeping to the "no replacement for displacement" whereas buggattie is finding that F/I is the replacement for displacement
