I just upgraded from an N97 Nokia to an iphone 4 32GB. I bought it unlocked in England. You can get a factory unlocked iphone in Canada "relatively" cheap. I think like $600? The Nokia had all the right features, but is very slow. I looked at the droid, but the iphone fit my needs better. There are just so many apps for the iphone that it won me over. Plus the iphone 4 is lightening quick - not that the droid is slow though. I like the droid too. It's a nice quality smart phone. Take a look at the iphone and see what you think. I looked at about 6 different phones. If you still like the droid, go with it!

My wife has had the phone since August. She LOVES it. It's basically eh HTV Evo 4g phone from sprint, on a much better service.

I fat finger things on the iphone, but this actually is pretty accurate on the touch keyboard., so I can look up things on the net while she's driving if she needs directions. I'll be getting the droid X when I upgrade to a smartphone though.

I'm just going to say one thing about 4g...

All of the phone companies are LYING to you by saying they are 4G.

4G is 100Mbps, technically. Most of the "4G" speeds being offered are 12-15Mbps. The 4G they are offering isn't much faster than 3G.

Both my sister and I have this phone. I absolutely love it. so does she.

If you are into modding your devices, you can root this thing and put a custom rom on it and it just absolutely flies.

I would suggest picking up the seido 1750 mah extended battery with the purchase of the phone. it doesn't require a larger back, but significantly improves battery life.

but also if you want to hold out for a little while longer, you can get a phone with Verizons LTE support "4G"

i believe a HTC Droid Incredible HD will be able to run on the LTE network. But i am not sure when it is supposed to come out.

and steve dallas, you are correct. Technically what these companies are saying it 4G...is just a 3G network on steroids. Verizons LTE is technically a 3GPP and Sprints is WiMax mobile broadband. But the steps these companies are taking will eventually help them get TRUE 4G networks.

Lets hope that comes sooner than later!

I had the choice between the Incredible and the Droid X and went with the Droid X. Felt better IMO.

Timely Article from Yahoo:

Apple And Google Will Win The Smartphone Wars, Says Altucher -- BlackBerry Is Toast

Posted Dec 13, 2010 11:00am EST by Henry Blodget in Media, Telecom, Mobile
The biggest new computing trend since the Internet boom of the 1990s is the rise of smartphones, the mobile mini-computers that are taking over the old "cellphone" market.
On these phones, the "phone" is an after-thought: What matters is the functionality of the handset itself. Specifically, the quality of the screen and Internet connection, and the number of "apps" that run on the phone.
Smartphones will be a much bigger and more profitable trend than most people think, says James Altucher of Formula Capital.
Apple and Google will win the smartphone war, as the iPhone and Android continue to gain market share. Why? Because the iPhone and Android phones provide the best multi-media experience thanks to a wide variety of apps. "Realistically Google will keep moving ahead in market share because 100 different handset manufacturers make the Android," Altucher forecasts.
And, as Cisco won in the 90's for powering the internet, the companies that make the nuts and bolts for the phones will also be the big winners in the smartphone wars, says Altucher. He predicts bright futures for F5 Networks and Riverbed Technology.
Research in Motion and Nokia, meanwhile, will be the biggest losers, having missed the transition to smartphones-as-app-platform.
"I don't know anybody with a Nokia," he notes. Nokia still has a massive presence in the global market but its dominance is fading. In North America, sales declined, 21% in the first quarter of 2010, alone.
Research in Motion stock won't go to zero, Altucher says, but its best days are behind it because they lack the app offerings consumers want. For developers, Blackberry is a distant third on their priority list. "Eventually they'll be nothing," Altucher says. "They just don't offer the functionality. You want applications, you want Angry Birds" and RIMM simply doesn't compare with Apple and Google.
Apple and Google, meanwhile, will keep going up.
