You have a point about the cornering and the chally got a .88g's on the skidpad, don't think dodge just stuck some crappy suspension under the challenger, because I'm getting that impression and your wrong

The Dodge Challenger R/T with a manual transmission features a variable displacement power steering pump which reduces fluid temperatures while decreasing the parasitic losses to achieve improved fuel economy (0.2 mpg); all have speed-sensitive power steering.

The front suspension is an independent short-long arm design with a high upper A arm, coil spring over gas-charged shocks and stabilizer bar, with lateral and diagonal lower links; the SRT-8 uses Bilstein monotube shocks. The rear suspension is a five-link independent setup with coil springs, link-type stabilizer bar, shock absorbers, and isolated suspension cradle; the SE and R/T (with automatic) use gas-charged twin shock absorbers, while the SRT-8 uses Bilstein monotube gas-charged shock absorbers, and the R/T with manual transmission uses gas-charged monotube Nivomat load-leveling shocks. SE doesn't get the fancy chrome fuel filler door; and the SRT uses a half-inch lower ride height. For 2009, SRT engineers fine-tuned suspension settings for both performance tires.

Four-wheel disc brakes are standard on all models. Ducts in the front fascia direct airflow to the front brakes, which reduces front-brake temperatures by as much as 15% in heavy use for enhanced performance and longer life. Brake pads are tuned to match the characteristics of each Dodge Challenger model.
  • The Dodge Challenger SRT8 uses Brembo four-piston calipers on all four wheels, for a 60 to zero mph stopping distance of approximately 110 feet.
  • The Challenger R/T uses twin-piston aluminum calipers and vented rotors in the front and single-piston aluminum calipers with vented rotors in the rear, for a 60 to zero mph stopping distance of approximately 125 feet.
  • Finally, Dodge Challenger SE uses single-piston aluminum calipers and vented rotors in the front and single-piston aluminum calipers with solid rotors in the rear. These brakes have a larger effective radius than many competitive systems, providing a 60 to zero mph stopping distance of approximately 130 feet.

Four wheel anti lock brakes, traction control, and electronic stability control with brake assist are all standard on R/T, SRT8, and, when the Popular Equipment Package is ordered, on the SE.

Im not suggesting that it has a crappy suspension, If it were put up against a Stang' it would dust it.

This is the way i'd put the cars on a track

-Camaro SS-

-Challenger SRT-

-GT500-

-Challenger R/T-

(here is where it gets tricky)

-Mustang GT-

-Camaro V6-

-Old Man with Cane-

-Challenger SE-

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

Ok, Dodge site says this Emp Pricing and 0% and Cash back deal excludes the SRT8, at least that's what it says when I punch in my zip code.

- srt excluded
- employee pricing, 5% below invoice as per challenger forums
- 0% for 36mo
- 2.9% for 48 mo.
- $1000 rebate if going with Chrysler financial
- no cashback.

mh, i was hoping for about $1000 cashback and 0% for 48mo.

Man this is so fun, just like back in the 60's and early 70's when my grandpa would get on the internet and BS back and forth with other gearheads about the camaros, challengers, mustangs.....we live in good times again my friends. The musclecar wars are back!

Come on now..........Al Gore hadn't even invented the internet at that time.

SRT8 was included according to the employee's on the phone, however they may have changed that after many of the dealers complained. Good news is that all three incentives apply for the RT..

http://www.challengertalk.com/forums...hrysler-10933/

I just got off the phone with Chrysler Financial Incentives Customer Service Center. Here's the "Employee Plus Plus" Challenger incentive information as told to me STRAIGHT FROM CHRYSLER:

If you buy a 2009 Challenger RT, you are elligible for ALL THREE of the following incentive programs:
Program # 38H9A.....Employee Pricing ($125 fee will apply)
Program # 38A95......0% APR for 48 months - (well-qualified borrowers only)
Program #:GLC9H.....$1,000 bonus cash for financing through Chrysler
Just to be clear...this person said ALL THREE of the above incentive programs are compatible on an RT!

** NOTE: The conflicting incentive numbers you are seeing on Dodge's website today (the deals you see when you put in your zip code to find incentives) are a different incentive program!!! It's very misleading and I let them know it!!!!!

OK...so what about the SRT8??? This sounds hard to believe, but keep reading...

According to the person I spoke to, the SRT8 IS available with Employee Pricing AND 0% for 48 months...but not the $1,000 bonus cash. I forgot to ask if this covers '08 or '09...or both.

The person also gave me the following advice:
If your dealer tries to play dumb and jerk you around, simply reference the above program numbers.

If in doubt about anything I just posted, call the Chrysler Incentives Customer Service Center yourself at 1-800-227-0757 before you visit your local dealer.

(i posted this on challengertalk as well)

I just got back from the dealer.

I was looking for a base r/t manual, of course they didn't have one. they found a few with only a couple of options (sunroof, stripes, sound package etc). he had a piece of paper in front of him with all the options as well as msrp pricing, invoice and employee pricing. msrp was around 33k, employee pricing was 30.520 or something.

and let me tell you, did they want to have my signature badly! after talking to the sales rep for a while he called his manager. he asked me what would he have to do in order to get my signature right here. i told him 25k. he laughed and said let's be serious here's on offer just for this minute: what about 29k? i said no. 28k? no. then he said ok thank you and left. i was about to leave when the sales rep got back and asked me what happened. well i explained him the situation and he said he's gonna see what he can do, if i might wanna stop by again tomorrow. told him to call me and let me know.

btw, i got pix of his paper with the info about the program. don't know if it's useful or not. it says 48mo 2.9% (the guy told me he'd give me 0% tho). sorry for the bad quality, i only have a crappy phone.

I dont see why they would complain about the srt8, there are more of those avail. than the r/t models.
