So do you think GM should build every single vehicle in the US? Every single part needs to be manufactured in the US? And this is the only way that anyone can support them?

I think some people need to learn a thing or two about the automotive industry as a whole.

There were some real p.o.s. cars back in the 80's... bad ones.
GM and ford /dodge have turned that around. I would not buy
a pos, or recommend one.... but too many people have not gotten over the 80s cars.
I would like to talk to all the 'journalists' who still bash the big '3' for
making and selling the big trucks... "vehicles that Americans no longer want/need" even though those vehicles were the life blood of all 3 for decades..... To top that off: Toyota AND Nissan get a complete pass
on the fact that they RECENTLY joined the FULL-SIZE truck market with HUGE trucks, and their 'small' trucks bigger than 'our' big trucks were 20 years ago. There is just too much unsubstantiated bias against the big three.
Anyone have any quality reports handy?? So toyota MIGHT have a better record than ford... is that because ford is all p.o.s. or maybe just toy is living on a 20 year old reputation? I USED to love toyota 4x4s, but now if America makes a competitive vehicle I will by GM if possible.

Haha, you got a large number of imports coming here and making cars too that gives somebodies dad a job, which in tern sends their kid to private school and maybe they buy 3 cars too. I guess you just dont see that though, right? No thats right, when an import sells in the states they take all that money and send it back to the motherland.

I think the current 'global market' has changed the way ANY automaker can do business, maybe the forest has impeded blowns' view...

When an import is sold in the United States, yes, a percentage goes towards the employees and the dealership. The vast majority of the money from that purchase goes straight to whatever country that company is based in.
In GM's/Ford's/Chrysler's case, whatever money is left over from paying employees and paying for parts stays in the United States. And seeing as how most of GM's assembly facilities and most of GM's parts are sourced from the US, most of that money stays in the US.

With the current state of the economy, how do you think we should help the motherlands of all the 'imports'.
If possible, we should save ourselves first, because we will (and always have) been willing to help other countries. Think about what the flight attendant says: "if the oxygen masks drop, put yours on first, then help those around you". So, if the U.S. economy goes in the tank, who is going to save 'us'. If we 'Americans' do not find a way to keep 'our' money here..... stop buying more imported stuff than we export..... eventually Georgia may be a colony of China....

All in good fun, just brainstorming and chatting. Changing perspectives sometimes is a good thing I think.

Is it a factor?
NO

It's the cherry on top.
