are you people oblivious to what is going on at GM and all the cuts they have made?????????again will the stupid union people give up their paychecks until the company is again profitable?? they pissed and moaned when they lost their jobs bank. And I think scott is probably doing by him self the work of probably 3 or 4 people and he works crazy hours, he said when they were setting up for NAIAS he was getting like 2 hours of sleep. Any union people willing to do that???? didnt think so.

ok excuse me they are working for a dollar each. because they have to be paid something. Lets see if any union worker will even worker for 10 dollars an hour let alone 1 dollar a year.

Just to put a couple of things in perspective about the Canadian loan that I don't believe has been mentioned in this thread...
1) the loan is on the table, and the Canadian & Ontario governments that are offering it are asking GM Canada to be accountable by providing similar information about future plans and cost-cutting measures as GM in the U.S. has done.
GM Canada does not appear to be as forthcoming with this info as GM in the U.S. has been...
2) apparently there are talks going on with the CAW about what they might be prepared to "contribute" and how the government views the outcome of these talks is perhaps another reason why GM Canada has not availed itself of the money just yet.
Put whatever spin you want on it, but at least it's good to see that GM Canada doesn't seem to panicking to get their mitts on the $.
FWIW, I see very little in the way of meaningful incentives coming from GM Canada at this point.
Chrysler has been offering "Employee Pricing" for everybody and Ford is plastering the newspapers with ads touting "0% financing for 72 months"
GM Canada is offering $1500-$3000 "cash delivery allowance" (you provide your own financing) and that's it!
... and believe me, I'm watchin'!
Gimme an opportunity to grab 0% for 72 months and I'll be pickin' a colour for my CTS-V!

Best regardSS,

Elie

No, if people worked for $10 an hour no one could afford to live off of that and the $1 salary is not simply a dollar; they get stock options worth MILLIONS of dollars so don't think that they're really suffering.

Pretty lippy, must be a youngin.
I'm aware of the cuts they have made and are still planning to make. The thing is... They should have done it long ago.

buddy. Go look at what the stock market is doing. Then look at the value of GMs stock from about a year or two to now.

didnt think so. And GM not talking money from canada its not being cocky at all. Its not worth it for 3billion do have to deal with the demands from two national governments.
How much do you think average union workers make? You are saying that they make more than the white collars? Anything to back that up? Doesnt seem right to me when the CEO fly in to washington in their private jets just to ask for a loan? They are really cuttin back there. Next thing you know theyll have to cutback from using ferraris to using corvettes. Wow I couldnt do that! I dont know where your logic is coming from.

I never thought it was a crime for manufacturing workers to make a decent wage. With all of the concessions that that UAW has given up the last 8 years, starting wage is now at $14.00 per hour. I don't think there is anyone that posts on this forum that will go to work for $1.00 a year, Union or not. Unions are there for the workers, maybe we should be like communist china, where no one has any working rights and will maybe make 2 or 3 dollars per hour. The CEO's have been making millions for years. WTF!

coulda woulda shoulda. Also no one knew things were going to get this bad and gas prices go so high, and the car market get this bad. Look at toyotas brand new wast of space that is now collecting dust. and the fact that their billion dollar truck plant didnt build a single truck this year.

Stupid union people? Yeah unions are SOMETIMES useless, but to say that the people working under the unions(hard working middle class people) are stupid, thats just plain ignorant buddy. Without them you wouldnt get the car you are impatiently waiting for. What do you think the net worth is of a union worker is compared to a CEO.
