As a corvette owner of many years, the only thing I like about that rendering is the color. In this economy there must be lots of bored designers sitting around with nothing to do, speculating about what future car models will look like, well car design is a collaborative process involving numerous artists and engineers and many thousands of hours, this is why design is often tempered by practicality, and the result is an organic whole which is pleasing to the eye; the current Corvette c6 perfectly embodies what a corvette should look like, succesfully combining heritage as well as contemporary lines to make the car actually LOOK like a corvette.

Those side windows are dreadfully impractical, and the way the distracting front end combines curves and lines is a case study in mismatched contrasts. It doesn't look like a corvette, and the only heritage I see here is the egg crate grille. On the plus side, I can kind of see where they're going with the rear of the car, I like the way the fenders flare up and down in that series of broken curves, and I do like the way the door includes the b-pillar, if I'm seeing that correctly. The roof panel appears gigantic, and one only hopes that it's not removable, because it would never fit in the rear hatch. I think I like the side coves as well, upon first glance they appear too Eclipse-like, but I do like the way it gives a wing-like "lift" to the area just above it. I think there's some interesting design elements here but that horrible front end just puts me off the whole endeavor, it looks like a Pontiac Aztek trying to smile.

Chevy needs to do something radical and more global or wallow in the sales #'s they've been getting for the past 2 gens.

Maybe the C5 & C6's look "American" and "Domestic", but that's not cutting it. They build an amazing supercar in the C6 and give it ho-hum everyday looks. Then they build an asphalt destroying beast in the zr1, charge a grip and expect people to flock?

There's a reason Ferrari's and Lambo's look the way they do. They SCREAM exotic. The SCREAM supercar and desirable. The soft, collaborative, homogenized aesthetic of the Vette needs to change.

Hell, the Lotus Elise gets more love than a C6 Z06, in my neck of the woods and that little slot car is NOTHING.

A Corvette should not look like a super powerful exotic car like the others you listed.

You know why Ferrari's and Lamborghini's look the way they do? They are reflections of the cars heritage, where it comes from. The Corvette is, has been, and forever will be distinctly American. If a Corvette looked like a Ferrari it wouldn't look like a Corvette, but a Ferrari wanna be. It would be trashed worldwide for simply chasing European manufacturer's tails. The Lotus, a Gallardo, and an F450 all look exotic to us because they are foreign.

The Corvette is probably considered exotic in most European ares. Doing what you're suggesting would take away from everything the Corvette is. America's world beating super car.

Thumbs up

The new rendering looks (red one) bad to the bone. I also really like the yellow one too but the red one rocks
