How to lower a 71 ford 1/2 ton?

A buddy of mine asked me to try and find out what he needs to drop his truck about 2 to 2 1/2 inches....Anyone know?

Pick it up?

But seriously, either he can go the airbag route (which for his case may be the way to go) or try to dig up an adjustable shock/spring setup for the truck. Also, with the airbags he could get an improvement in ride quality depending on the setup he goes with.

So theirs no lowering leaf kit or anything like that? Or possibly putting the leafs under the rear end instead of on top

Send a message via AIM to BigMatt
he could mount the axle on top of the leafs instead of on the bottom for the rear, then he could get drop springs for the front

Thats what I was thinkin he would have to do. I cant find any leafs that sit on top of the axle that will drop it 2 inches.

Hence why I said doing airbags would be the simplest idea. No worries about finding the right coils and leafsprings for the truck. Just mount the bags and adjust accordingly. Hide the reservoir in the bed somewhere and heck, he can even raise it to clear curbs of need be.

Which also brings to mind the ability for him to either drop or raise it between 2-2.5 inches and possibly 1 inch to 3 inches.
