Just have to put this out there.

This holds true for every forum out there. As a mod at GMI, nothing pisses me off more than when a member constantly harps about something I did or another staff member did that made them mad, whether it be closing one of their threads or deleting their posts. It's annoying as hell.

If it bothers you soooo much that you're "being censored," then leave. LEAVE. Nobody's forcing you to stay on the site. I guarantee you that you can survive without posting on the Internet. In fact, the site would be better off without you since the other members wouldn't have to listen to you bitch and complain the whole time about something that NOBODY ELSE CARES ABOUT. You can go start your own forum if you want, I promise you that you'll end up closing and deleting threads and posts that get out of hand or are inappropriate.

Also, the "free speech" excuse is blown way out of proportion and used way too much on these forums. When people sign up on sites like this and GMI, they're always presented with the rules or some code of conduct that they're expected to follow. That's the extent of your free speech, and mods have the right to delete any posts that they think is inappropriate or breaks those rules. It's no different than police officers arresting people for disturbing the peace.

Do we make mistakes sometimes? Yeah, we may not understand your intentions (this is the Internet, it's impossible to read people accurately) or we may miss certain things altogether (that's why the Report Posts function is there). But 9/10 times, if your posts get deleted, it's because you did something or were a part of something (doesn't mean you were actively participating, you may have just gotten looped into it through a quote) that was inappropriate or broke a rule. Hell, be glad that all that happened was a deleted post and not infractions.

I guess what I'm trying to say is...suck it up. Or leave. Simple.

And no, this wasn't directed at who you all think it is. And hell, if the mods feel like this is inappropriate, then go ahead and delete it.

Been there... LOL

I love the freedom of speech excuse.

Here's what I usually send back when I get that one.

Quote:
If I invite you to my house, and serve you dinner, and while you are enjoying my food and my drinks and the comfort of my home, you decide to tell my how ugly my wife is and how stupid my children are... Don't think I'm violating your constitutional right to free speech when I throw you out...

Sure, you can say what you want. buy you can't say it in my house.

This is a privately owned and operated site... We set and enforce the rules, if you want to be a guest here, you are expected to follow them or we will show you the door.

That's because it's pure caffeine..

Meanwhile.. gray skies.. 40*F. Good weather. Especially when yesterday the T/A was pulling like a banshee off the line for some reason. o_O

Means I gotta go grab some coffee of my own and bust out the ASA works. "You have learned much young mechanic, but you are not an A&P yet.."
