In 1972 when leaf springs and drum brakes were the norm. This is 2009. More is expected from a vehicle these days.

I considered a Challenger myself. I love the way they look style wise and they have some nice features.

Turn offs for me were:
1. PRICE - the SRT8 (required to get 400HP+ which I want) was $$$$ at well over $40K
2. Gas mileage is awful
3. Poor handling has been mentioned in every single review of the car.

Those three things were enough for me to wait. Glad I did, the Camaro will get 23MPG, have good if not great handling, 426HP, and cost $10K less. Can't complain there.

P.S. I'm no fanboy either. I drive a Honda and a Toyota currently so I have no loyalty to GM to cloud my opinions.

I agree with you....but for it's weight and size it handles pretty good with a .86-.87 skid.......it should be the main concern about the challenger but it isnt a big flop or anything,

Guys, guys, guys! This is a camaro web site, are we not supposed to critisize other models? I've owned a camaro since 1983 and like many other people have waited patiently for this new car. My current car is a 1999 SS and I can't wait to get my hands on this new car. Having said all of the above, the challenger is a very sharp car but with the times being what they are, and the auto maunfactures having to appeal to a broader market I whole heartedly believe that this is the car. The comment made in the previous threads are, dollar for dollar the camaro is a much better buy than the challenger is as far as what your getting for your money. Now, lets all go out and kick some ricer A??.

Not to mention, Chevy is marketing the Camaro as a sports car, not mentioning the muscle car word anywhere eh?
Sports cars can turn... muscle cars can too, if your next to stopped. My 91 Caprice fits in the Muscle car class; if it had more power, and two less doors! lol

Yea, especially those just wishing to go back to the good old days. Well, they got it with the Chally! Except now they have power steering, power windows, ABS, airbags and XM Satellite radio. LOL!

IRS
yup, +1 vs Mustang. Even with Camaro
skidpad in .86-87
0.865 isn't much to be proud of these days for a performance vehicle
superior handling to the almighty mustang
well, if you're gonna set the bar that low . . .
and THE HEMI!
bravo to Mopar marketing. Besides the name its much closer to a GM LS engine than a real Hemi. Take that as you will
Its ok Kevin. We kid because we care. Or at least, that is what I'm supposed to say
