I have an '07 GT I bought new. Now it has 50k and it's share of mods. Zero problems.

I don't know as much about the V6 Mustangs, but I do know the 4.0 they put in them has been being used for years, so I wouldn't expect it to have any major issues. Of course I'd get the Carfax and check the service records as well.

Unfortunatly, i have to go with a v6 (insurance :(). Luckily the prices for an 07 (year ive been looking at) v6 Mustang are ridiculously cheaper than the v6 Camaro price ive been looking at also.nearly 10k difference. I can get a 07 v6 mustang with 30k-40k miles for 12-14k (with leather and other nice things too )

My wife has an 09 v6 that I have highly modified. The 4.0 is no slouch at 230hp stock.

Only problem with a stock v6 is the single exhaust and cheap interior.

If you're looking for a v6 but not too concerned about the price, look for a nice v6 premium which has the upgraded interior, leather, etc. and be sure to get a manual 5-speed, which will bring the cost down a little and the fun factor up a lot.

If you want to upgrade it, you can get a ford racing duel exhaust for about $800. Makes the v6 sound great. 4.0 is a lot of displacement for a v6 and it sounds deep with the right exhaust.

You can also pick up a nice set of 2010 GT 18" rims AND tires on ebay for $600, which is an excellent upgrade for little money. You may have to change out your front calipers with GT calipers however for clearance since the v6 calipers stick out more. (the opposite of the Camaro brakes).

Ford racing has plenty of performance and handling mods that can be done, some cheap, some expensive.

You read my mind i didnt mention, but with the extra cash i had left over (since im not getting a Camaro) id buy a CAI, dual Borla exhaust (not sure which exhaust yet). With the 10k difference id be saving i could buy a supercharger.... but i really dont want to modify that heavily lol

what else should i do besides CAI and exhaust?

EDIT: This is the CAI ive been looking at is.... IIRM, like BBK or some brand like that. Its shiny chrome and has blue "trim?". IDK much about modifications (although i would like to know more)

I took one on a fairly extended test drive and I was not impressed. The engine felt like it was having to work WAY to hard to get the job done, and the transmission was just terrible.

Just my two cents.

Because i would want to modify it but my wallet wouldnt let me :( plus id rather not buy new (or basically new). The most used v6 camaros for sale used are still out my price range but i mean, i love the 05-09 mustang style (friends got a 05 GT thats AAAAAmazing )

I've seen them run mid 12s in basically stock form and when modded, the sky is the limit.

Ill take a look except, i really dont like the body style (low/small front end) that much..... my opinion.

Also, i got to have a v6 not v8 (im guessing the cobra is a v8)

actually.. i know a little bit about the 4.0... The 4.0 is rated at 210 HP / 240 ft/lbs. (Not 230 HP). The 240 ft/lbs makes it a torquey little motor.

The 4.0 responds pretty good to mods. We seen nice gains with just swapping out the V6 muffler with a cheap take off GT muffler. There is no performance reason to switch to dual exhaust... it's really an appearance thing.

A friend of mine actually got his 4.0 into the 13's with just bolt-ons and weight reduction... No power adder!

Liked my 2005 V6 Stang... just don't like what Ford did to the Mustang in 2010...

My 4.0 is running strong, she's just a hair under 70,000 miles with no problems to report. They are as scrming said, pretty mod friendly, and they can take a beating pretty well. I know of one guy who had his turboed 4.0 into the 10's... I believe he finally blew his motor while running HIGH boost and adding a healthy shot of Nos ontop of the boost..(scrming can probly tell you more about what all he had done and what finally blew his motor, I just know it was alot, and he wasn't expecting it to make as much power as it did. scrming, I'm sure you already know I'm talking about Rygen..lol) Lots of after market options on the platform as well. I know of 3 supercharger systems, 2 (3?) turbo systems, LOTS of exhaust and CAI options, and a few different suspension options.
