I saw this on GMI and literally yelled:

Fairly sure everyone in my hall thinks I'm insane now.

Seriously GM, no AWD? I know it saves weight...but seriously? No HP bump either? Are you kidding me? The Regal Turbo's already getting downplayed in a few comparisons.

The new engines cannot get here fast enough.

Maybe they'll get it added on for the next model year, that is a shame.

Wasn't that 4 banger turbo supposed to be offered as an option to the std Regal?

As of now there is no standard Regal, only CXL 2.4L and CXL Turbo with the 2.0T.

I just don't understand this at all.

As far as I know, the 2012 Regal is supposed to get some updates once production starts at Oshawa, but the loss of AWD from the GS is just mind boggling.

I should at least be an option. This is a major disapoointment and IMHO a mistake. Why not get a Fusion Sport instead of it? You can get it in AWD, 265 HP V6, as or better optioned than the Regal for 10k less!!!!!!!! Not to mention the Regal GS is probably gonna cross larger cars such as the musch quicker SHO in pricing and even near lux cars such as BMW 3 series, Acura TL, , more powerful and AWD available Lincoln MKZ, and even certain models of the CT. They have really made this a unique car if they would have left well enough alone and gave it the turbo 6/AWD. They had a chance to give Buick one hell of a performance flagship, until they neutered it.....

The 2.8T in the Insignia OPC doesn't meet US emissions regulations, so I can understand why that wasn't used. The 2.0T's 255 HP can be forgiven. But lack of AWD is a major deal-breaker for a lot of folks.

The awd doesn't upset me near as much as the motor. That to big of a car to have that motor as the top motor. 3,700Lbs Love the looks ,but needs more motor.

ISn't the Turbo mill in the SRX the same engine?

I think it might be related but isn't the exact same engine. Not sure though, that's just what I heard as the reason it isn't in Regal.

Plus, there are supposedly some reliability issues with it in the SRX...
