well if the batteries were made elsewhere , and were not to spec. the volt would destroy gm;s future in that line.

Here's to one more anchor the folks in D.C. would have to tear up before letting GM die.

On a lighter note -- this is great news. Volt assembly, engine, and battery all built right here in the USA. Everything the Prius is NOT. Brilliant PR.

wow i must say this is stunning news. I have to wonder with GM knows about batteries that some of the best in the world dont.

Well, Bob Lutz who is heading up the Volt program, is the former CEO of Exide batteries. He knows a thing or two
