people of all faiths come and join the discussion

first and foremost I want to start by saying that I would like this to be a civil discussion, if you feel compelled to say something inflammatory, don't.

secondly, this conversation is not about religion, please don't quote me scriptures, I don't believe in religion.

this conversation is for people who love science, mathematics, and are capable of being critical thinkers

the question is simple, is there a creator. I believe there is based on

1) the complexity of DNA, I find it hard to believe that a self replicating molecule as complex as this just happened by accident. Add to that the fact that DNA seems to follow a format as if it were written, similar to a programmer writing software.

2) the grand design and enormity of our universe, I also find it fascinating that the atom behaves like a solar system. If the universe is expanding and we all agree that it started from a primordial particle, how is an infinitely dense and hot particle even possible? how can something be infinity?

3) why are humans human, why is it that we do things that other animals do not, and are unnecessary for survival, for example, go to the moon or smash atoms together in colliders. who made us? why is scientific curiosity characteristicly human when other creatures have existed for billions of years and have survived without knowing the pythagorean theorem? why would mother nature give us intellect to survive when she could have just as easily given us claws, she has never done this before with other species, what makes us special?

when I think about the evidence, it compells me to believe that we and our universe were masterfully engineered, by whom, I would love to know.

I hope when I die, it will be revealed to me

Ah, but that IS essential to our survival as a species. Spreading out to other planets and star systems is the only way we can guarantee long term (in evolutionary sense) survival.

There is a philosophical theory named, "Paley's Watch". It states the following:

Quote:
"In crossing a heath, suppose I pitched my foot against a stone, and were asked how the stone came to be there; I might possibly answer, that, for anything I knew to the contrary, it had lain there forever: nor would it perhaps be very easy to show the absurdity of this answer. But suppose I had found a watch upon the ground, and it should be inquired how the watch happened to be in that place; I should hardly think of the answer I had before given, that for anything I knew, the watch might have always been there. (...) There must have existed, at some time, and at some place or other, an artificer or artificers, who formed [the watch] for the purpose which we find it actually to answer; who comprehended its construction, and designed its use. (...) Every indication of contrivance, every manifestation of design, which existed in the watch, exists in the works of nature; with the difference, on the side of nature, of being greater or more, and that in a degree which exceeds all computation."

Paley went on to argue that the complex structures of living things and the remarkable adaptations of plants and animals required an intelligent designer.

I was medevacd with no pulse to be found on my body, I carried the EMT sheet around with me in my wallet for nearly a decade after my medical discharge during the Gulf War. It will be revealed to you.

I will say that if there is a creator. Then did another creator create our creator? If not and the creator simply exists than is it not equally feasible than we merely exist and there is no creator? We know there were creatures that existed before us that are gone forever (lest we experiment Jurassic Park style) and I believe that at some point (most likely due to our own undoing) we will cease to exist and another species will pick up where we left off.

Very good question but unfortunately way too metaphysical for me. I do think you are correct tho that some how something not by happenstance kicked off the entire process.
Cheers

Thus, the chicken or the egg theory.

I'm not worthy enough to even begin to think this out more. But what happens when we die? If there is indeed a creator, something that made us come into existence, would "it" also just let us cease to exist? Or do we continue on in another form?

This isn't the place for this type of discussion. We don't allow it along with politics
