I will kinda stick up for OP only a little though , My first car i didnt buy either and it was a camaro a 1977 lt with 100000 miles ,thats the little bit, They paid 1200.00 for it not 30000 . My suggestion to the op is that there are a lot of used 4th gens out there and even some 3rd gens that are in very good shape, especially down in georgia, that way you can still have your camaro and you can learn to drive a Muscle car then save for a new one

Thanks for the options. I appreciate them. Vudaman67: The reason im not able to get the camaro now is due to the poor visibilty. Im guessing when im a senior ill be a more experienced driver making my mom feel more secure putting me i such a car.

Yea visibility could definatly be a problem with a new driver. Sounds like a good plan to wait a little while then. I still say buy a cheap car to learn in then and just keep anticipating the Camaro. I had to wait a year for mine, from the time I ordered until I finally picked it up. The waiting sucked but man was it awesome when I finally got it.

No matter how tempting, I would not recommend buying a restored classic car of any sort for your first car. If you wreck it, you're taking away a piece of history that probably can't be brought back. However, if you wreck a 2011 car, there's plenty of replacement parts and cars just like it.

I do agree these threads are annoying but its usually everyone other than the OP who make me Obviously this kids parents love him and trust him enough to get a reasonable car, hence why he must wait to gain experience to get a Camaro. I wouldn't be surprised if the kid was just making all this up to get a rise out of everyone.

Kid, I hope you get whatever car you want. I wish my parents were as nice as yours.
I'm going to start linking people to this post

...but you're considering an M3? and to answer your question, it's not the top speed of the car it's how fast you get there. So the point of a car that can go 200 although the speed limit is 75 is so that you can get to that speed limit in 5 seconds or faster for some cars.

your parents are willing to spend $20k, ok thats understandable. (Debatable, either way, yes) But Im not sure I understand why you said "lease for 20 years"?

No offense, but your mom must not be the brightest person in the world if she thinks leasing an M3 is a reasonable alternative to buying a camaro.

What is your moms logic behind not wanting a camaro? Ask her that, and then use those arguments against her because if she is okay with an M3, then she should be okay with a camaro. They are somewhat similar performance wise with the camaro probably being a little slower. The camaro is also bigger and therefore at least a little bit safer.

Also the cost of leasing an M3 will be astronomical, might as well buy a camaro.

Also, If you "only" have 20,000 to spend, I am selling my cherry 4th gen z28. Its pretty close to as fast as a 5th gen and I'll sell it to you for 10,000.
