It's not really criticism you are getting so much as jealousy from people that have worked to get things. Not everyone is just handed the keys to a brand new car, especially not someone still in high school. There is a feeling of pride knowing that you worked for and paid for your own new Camaro. You won't have that if your parents just give it to you.

Your comments on leasing an M3 are just way out of line for most people. A good chunk of the people that can afford to buy a Camaro just can't or won't pay the additional amount for a $55k-$60k BMW M3.

If you want to drive a "cool" car, then get a decent classic, take an auto shop class, and learn your vehicle. You'll appreciate what you've got a bit more that way.

ATTN Everybody in this thread.

Nobody cares how hard you had to work for the piece of shit car you were forced to drive. The kid has generous parents and that is that. He is not you, I'm sure he doesn't care what you did 30 years ago, and I'm sure he doesn't care if you were forced to buy a crappy car off of your parents.

I do agree these threads are annoying but its usually everyone other than the OP who make me Obviously this kids parents love him and trust him enough to get a reasonable car, hence why he must wait to gain experience to get a Camaro. I wouldn't be surprised if the kid was just making all this up to get a rise out of everyone.

Kid, I hope you get whatever car you want. I wish my parents were as nice as yours.

TROLL-
One who purposely and deliberately (that purpose usually being self-amusement) starts an argument in a manner which attacks others on a forum without in any way listening to the arguments proposed by his or her peers. He will spark of such an argument via the use of ad hominem attacks (i.e. 'you're nothing but a fanboy' is a popular phrase) with no substance or relevence to back them up as well as straw man arguments, which he uses to simply avoid addressing the essence of the issue.

There are multiple interpretations...all leading to someone who intentionally provokes negative behavior for amusement

When I was in high school I worked and bought a 1990's 318is, and I loved it so much. Wasn't particularly a rocket, but it handled great. In fact, I loved it so much that I later bought a 1987 325is and I currently have another '90s 318is that I have as a city run-about along side my Camaro. People still think it's a newish car and ask about it all the time. Since you like 'the good stuff' maybe something like that is a good choice. Safe, cheap (on gas, insurance, to buy and to mod) and still stylish. They run forever too.

okay i am in high school also. My parents paid for my car and i am very grateful for that and i hope that one day i will be able to give them something just as nice. But you really need to take into count the insurance rates. I don't have my license at the moment cause 4,000 dollars of insurance. like i said earlier i am very grateful for the car but if i had to drive around a piece of crap car i would cause it is a car and you need to get around some how. But to answer your question i would just buy the car. Instead of leasing a car for a few months and then giving it in for the camaro. It would probably be less money if you just buy the car. Now since i said i was in high i know that i should start doing this . But we can all get along . Oh and to the op i took AP world history as a sophomore. One of the hardest classes i have ever taken but i lived.

I think the Yugo would fit you and your mom just fine and give you the bragging rights in high school. The lease payments slot in a little less the an M3! Go for it!

Oh man my dads 318i was supposed to be my first car. It was my dads and he got it real cheap like 3000 i think. He fixed it up and put new rims tires replaced all the sensors and the shock absorbers.... you know the works. Well that is the car i learned stick on. And might i say for an inline 4 it was pretty fast and it handled great in curves. One of the best cars i have driven to this day. You have a nice car Sir

I was wondering if you'd catch that.

Sometimes going old school is cooler than having the latest and greatest thing out there.
