Other than creating jobs for people,I think it's a waste. They can use the money to take care of some of the other roads around the state.

I think the cities are too far apart to make it worth while, they think it will work like the DC Metro but above ground. And the High Speed rail will be ok for tourist, but to pricey for a family of four from Tampa to Orlando. It would be much cheaper to drive ... They are talking like $10 per person one way ... OUCH !!!

Taxes never go away, soon as a temp tax is set to expire, they find a reason to keep it.

Unless the thing will be free to ride by everyone who pays taxes in Florida, which it won't, the money paid to ride should pay for it. Let them get a loan to fund the project then pay it back as it comes in. Then let the bank have it when it bombs and the state can wash their hand of it with little ventured.

This is what is happening with Tri-rail in sofla. Great idea not enough ride it to fund thou. Will be the same there as well. Tampa to Disney will not make money further more when the first drunk crosses over on I-4 and hits the train OIE! Didn't we already vote something like this down a few years ago?

same thing has been happening here since they introduced MAPS, it was supposed to create more jobs and more specifically first responder jobs. Well that didn't happen and they just passed a MAPS 3 as well. I say this to say that I agree with this! Sorry for the thread jack, I love you state though. Will be coming to visit next summer more than likely to take a cruise out of.

A total waste of money in a state that has been laying off teacher, firemen, and police. The light rail is nothing but a political agenda.

The only people that will be riding it will be the bums like on the city busses, regular people won't want to ride because of that plus, it's really not to far to drive from daytona to orlando or for that matter any of the other proposed stops, florida is not really that spread out for people that comute, I think it is a BIG waste, put the money towards our school system where there is a real need for added funds.
