Anyways whats the big deal if GM did bring back some vehicles back under their own old brands? They still own them, correct? There are some vehicles out there that if properly returned/redesigned could generate some good revenue for the general. 442 under the buick emblem... But still they have the wildcat and GNX and skylark names and herritage to pull from. Even the old buick specials were cool.

To be completely honest,Buick and GMC could go. Buick's line merged in with chevy and GMC's are already chevys.....
The problem would be that if the brand doesn't exist, how can you sell a car from it? To bring back a car from a dead brand would mean either A) selling it as some other brand (ie a GMC Firebird) or B) reintroducing the brand. The first option is dumb, regardless of what mis-matched branding you choose. The second is incredibly expensive for very little gain.

GM could not only ditch Buick and GMC but Cadillac and Chevy too, along with Opel, Holden, Vauxhaul, Daewoo, and any other brand they have in the world and just sell every single vehicle as 'GM'. But doing so would be stupid.

Are GMC's gussied up Chevy's? Yep. Thats also why its GM's most profitable brand. They're essentially the same as a Chevy, but people pay more for them. Furthermore, I remember hearing that unlike Pontiac and Saturn, most GMC buyers didn't cross shop against Chevrolet's so ditching the brand would cause a them to lose a very large chunk of their most profitable sales. Horrible idea when you're company is emerging from bankruptcy.

Buicks as Chevy's? That makes no sense at all. Its a premium brand that competes against Lexus. Its target market is very different from Chevrolet.
