How do you baby your computer? - Page 3

I don't run any blockers but the firewall.

We have seven computers. Me and Bonnie each have one here at the office. Bonnies laptop, our home PC, one in the garage, and James and Rebecca have their laptops.

I have never run anti-virus software nore the free blockers, never had a problem. I have been very lucky, yes. But I always found the blockers actually slowing the system down.

Of course, Camaro5 is computer freindly as far as the add-ins, spyware, malware, and all that chyt.

One thing that I am a believer in is stay away from the seedy sites. I have freinds and family members who get on the porn sites a lot and they ALWAYS have problems.

Clean My Mac (program)
and clean the screen and keys with rubbing alchol every once in a while

I use my Linux machine for that. Duh!

But on my Windows machine I run Avira and Spybot, plus Windows Defender and a firewalled router.

PQ! You've got to have SOMETHING for antivirus! AVG Antivirus - it's free. And yeah, any program protecting your system will slow it down a LITTLE..but it's certainly worth it.

Besides that: I don't downloading anything or go to sites that I don't trust, as well as enter any personal info.

Every 6-12 months I reformat my HD and reinstall windows.

We have a separate PC for bills

I might do that every 6-12 years..............

little bennfit from doing that, even though thats how MS has told people to fix computer for years.

It takes no more than 30 minutes of (my) time, so it's worth it to me. I keep a list of programs & my file of bookmarks & passwords (encrypted). There's enough of a difference in speed that I do it that often. I also like how clean all of the folders get.
