are you talking about a RPM cap to what the device can spool up to? that would make sense. you can only overcome so much friction before catching on fire.

I just think that, even with infinite structural stability, there will be physical forces that limit the top-speed of this repeating machine.

i see your point. anything that has mass can approach the speed of light, but cannot exceed it, so i guess that would put a limit on things, but that's still pretty dad gum fast!

Who says that nothing can exceed speed of light? They have already found particles/waves that exceeded the speed of lights many many times over. If I find a reference to it I will post it up.

Assuming nothing goes faster than the speed of light is old school thinking now!
