I agree about the diesels only being worth it if you need them. The up front cost of a diesel takes a lot of miles to work off if you're only looking at mileage. Plus diesel typically runs 20-30cents more than unleaded. Honestly I love my diesel but if I didn't need that much towing I'd get out of it. It's kind of a pain. Sounds like you don't mind waiting a few months Stew. If I were you, I'd just avoid looking until after hunting season. Everyone wants a new truck in hunting season. If you do look too much now you'll drive yourself crazy- at least if you're like me .

I have an 06 Dodge crew cab 4x4 diesel. I am getting 16 city and 20-21on the highway, as long as I dont go over 70 mph. Anything with a diesel motor will get better mileage IMO

IMHO-if you're going to wait, just set this aside and don't go look at dealerships for a while . At least until January.

Get a dodge 2500. 05 or older. Install a bullydog tuner and enjoy 22-24 mpg unloaded and 16 loaded down with a 5th wheel camper.

I love beagles. They're cat chasers though so my wife does not like beagles
Great pic.

The diesels are great if you do a lot of towing etc. You need to drive a lot to make up the $8,500 ish price difference up front and the $.15 a gallon more expensive fuel to boot. (not to mention that you have to step up to at least a 3/4 ton to get the diesel too)
Based on what the OP said he needs for a truck, the tacoma, f150 or chevy/gmc, dodge is rgiht for him. |

Yeah, Now it is time to start researching. Been looking into the Dakota, like everything..... but the ground clearance, max is only 8 inches, same as the Patriot

Oh, also decided I am going to see what the Ecoboost F-150 is like, really thinking about a regular cab STX 4x4 with the ecoboost and Sync
