Oh. No, what he means is that the Converj will go from concept to production like the Camaro did. The production model looks very, very close to the concept.

Yes, that is what I meant. I have cleaned my post up a little bit.

is anything likethe VOLT Concept it will end up looking like a Pirus!! Their excuse for the change in the Volt was it had the areodynamics of a brick! This for a car that will be used to go to work (20 mile round trip) and visit Publix. They had a killer looking hybrid and changed it into a TOY- OTA wannabe!:(
I wonder how all those Element owners survive!

Hopefully you are correct and they will try and keep it as close to the concept as well. How long do we ned to wait for this one? 2-5 years?

Errrr . . . last I checked, a hybrid can only achieve those fuel economy numbers if it has aerodynamics closer to a bullet than a brick. But this thing at least LOOKS like it's pretty aerodynamic.

Actually, the spirit of the hybrid is in city-driving. Once you get on the highway the hybrids on the road today lose economy. so the aerodynamics are more for boosting the highway economy than improving the hybrid system in any way.

The pictures posted in this thread show a car with a Cd no worse than .28, I'm guessing. It definitely looks aerodynamically superior to the Volt concept, by far. The Volt concept had a big gaping grille, non-sloping roof followed by a too-steep rear window, bulging fenders, recessed headlights...

This car looks like a computer designed it in a wind tunnel...

It wouldn't have even gone 20 miles on batteries if they kept the concept.

For the last time people, the Volt Concept was merely to draw attention to what lay underneath the hood, the E-Flex drivetrain. Most knew from the start that the production Volt would look nothing like the concept.

Toyota wannabe? It's obvious that you haven't even looked at the HUGE difference in technology between the Volt and prius. E-Flex is light years ahead of HSD.

And the 2010 Cadillac SRX debuted as the Cadillac Provoq concept a few years back. The production model looks exactly the same. The production CTS Coupe and CTS Coupe concept looks more or less the same.

Most likely, this will either debut as Cadillac's E-Flex car or a smaller car to slot beneath the CTS.

Your logic will fall on many deaf ears, and that is going to be a weakness of the Volt. To so much of the population, appearance is the most important quality of a car and to look similar to another model makes it worthless to those people. If people think the Volt looks like the Prius, it will compete for Prius's portion of those type of customers, and will lose out on the portion of those customers who don't want the Prius.

You can dress up a turd and sell it to half of the population while they ignore the steak platter. People buy cars that they've never sat in because of how they look, without even knowing if they'll be comfortable in said car, let alone how it drives.

That's okay for those people, even if I think it's crazy. It serves their needs; they need a car that projects whatever image they want to be seen as. It's something that must be an important part of design and marketing.

UPDATE

The Cadillac Converj has been approved for production...along with a Voltec-powered CUV.

The interior at night would look like something out of the movie Tron.. This is a stwp in the right direction for those wanting electric vehicles.. However paying a premium for a battery that needs replacing at some point in time and will cost you an arm and a leg vs buying a brand new engine doesn't appeal to me...
