That being said, my new f150 has a fully locking rear diff for really plowing the mud. I used it 2 weeks ago in my hunting woods and it sailed right through the wet spots. (We had 10 inches of rain a few weeks before and that takes awhile to dry up. lol) My buddy in his f-350 got stuck in the same spot that i drove through. My guess would be due to the weight differnece. it was an easy pull out though.

Nice to see that ford finally got on board with the locking diff that's been available since the early 90's on the chevy.

I meant to say that it's switchable, that you can it turn on and off.

my 2009 gmc sierra all-terrain didn't even have that.....

Yeah, I think I'll see what the 11 F-150s are going for. i really like the ecoboost, not just for the mileage but the low end torque. That is one sharp FX4 BTW.

If you find that please let me know, I'll take 12.

It is possible.

My 07 Duramax, with a 100 h.p. tune, intake and full 4" exhaust was capable of 23.1 mpg, hand calculated at 70 mph. It was an extended cab short box, 4 wheel drive.

My 04 was solid at about 19 mpg.

I know diesels are expensive but the mods are unlimited and with nothing more than a tune, have the ability to ass rape 95% of cars on the road. The hotter the tune, the better the mileage.

I've been involved in diesel forums (and own my own) since 2003 and after owning two different generation Duramax trucks, they are capable of quite a lot.

Sounds like fun I love the spray in bedliners, our Dakota has one and whatever i end up getting it will probably have one too. Spray in line>plastic bedliner.

I used to have an international that was 100% spray in bed-linered. Good stuff-weighs a lot though.

I really like the stuff. my brother's Dakota had an over the rail plastic Bedliner when he got and it scratched through the bare metal. When he got it painted he put a bedrug in and got ride of it (not a work truck lol).

The only way you'll get a 4x4 truck with relatively good mileage is to buy a diesel, preferably a Duramax.

I got 19mpg combined out of my 08 Silverado Xcab Z71 5.3ltr. That's averaging 5mph over the posted limit in most cases, and it had the deactiviation. My 04 Silverado Xcab Z71 5.3ltr averaged just under that at 17.5mpg combined, and if I stayed at the speed limit, it would get 20mpg easy. Both had 3.73 rear gears.

My 01 Dodge Ram Sport Xcab 4x4 with 3.55 gears? 12mpg and that's staying at or under the speed limit, it had the 5.9ltr.

It's hard to beat GM full size trucks in the gas mileage wars, save with a diesel. At least IMHO.

But why would you want to do that? Just another thing to brake. I like the fact that I don't have to do anything in my chevys. It's just there when you need. And boy do we need it where we work.

The only problem is that diesel cost more which most of the time washes out the better mileage. Most people that buy diesels don't really need them. I would never buy one based on mileage alone. I do have a couple diesels in my fleet, but only because we need the pulling and hauling power that a diesel provides in these units.
