The problem with the CTS is the ugly exterior styling, particularly the rear end. The Mustang rear end looks better, and that's one of the ugliest rear ends out there.

Cadillac needs to go back to more classical exterior styling.

before they used a straight line for everything, the compliant was that most of Cadillac's customers were dying out, so they had to find a way to reach out to a younger crowd... Cadillac and Buick tend to fall into the stigma of "cars for old people"...

Agreed but the CTS styling looks like a car for space people.

They managed to update the styling on the Camaro while maintaining classic lines. Cadillac needs to find that formula as well. The current CTS fails in my opinion.

this current body style is definately better than the previous and lets face it, when you copy the same vehicles 3-5 times, there are only so many ways you can present it while keeping the soul of the vehicle... its why the rate of resale of the Nissan M56 will always be higher than any GM sedan..

Not to bring data into the conversation, but

....................CTS................2011 5 Series..............2010 3 Series

Front Leg.........42.4".................41.4"........... ..............41.5"
Rear Leg..........35.9".................36.1".......... ...............34.6"
Frt Shoulder.....56.7".................58.3".......... ...............55.4"
RR Shoulder......54.7".................56.2"......... ................55.1"

And as the 2011 5 Series is off the same architecture as the 7 Series I would expect it to be a wider car.

Front and rear leg room of the CTS is very close to the same. And if you adjust the Front Seat to match the 5 Series, the CTS would then have almost an inch more Rear Seat leg room.

It sounds like some die hard ford fan is more than a little embarrassed at the success the entire CTS platform has been and the simultaneous failure that lincoln's competing products have been. The CTS has been a fantastic success at resurrecting Cadillac's image and the reality is Ford has yet to find the product to do the same for lincoln. Are there bigger sedans than the CTS? Of course, but that doesn't change the fact that the CTS has put Cadillac in direct competition with many european products that for many years no american car company effectively competed with.

The CTS is a huge success for GM, some people just cant accept it.

Dammit.. How did I miss this argument?

The basis for one person's PRO-FOREIGN argument rides on his desire to chauffeur big men around in his back-seat.

I have a CTS-V... and have driven the M5, 550, 535i plenty of times. The legroom in the 5series is no better than that of the CTS.. where the BMW beats the CTS is in the "upper" portion of the space. Simply put.. the CTS's styling causes it to be a lil less comfy in the rear shoulder are for a person my size... 6'3".

Course... WTF do I care??? and WHY THE EFF would I care how 6 ft+ deadbeats, who had to ride in my backseat, feel about the ride??? Let them get their own car.

I will say that I had an STS before I got my V and it did offer about the same interior volume as the Infiniti M. The STS, in fact, is the reason for ANY short-comings the current CTS currently has in the areas of size, engine variety (no V8 outside of V), even things like Tuscan leather. That will all be fixed come 2012 MY from what I've been told. The demise of the STS, the birth of the ATS, the new financial position of GM, and the new rise in quality through out the corp... will all push the CTS up more into E-Class territory with this upcoming MCE, and make an already stellar world beater even more so.

Sorry GM hater... I kno U like to hate anything positive about them... but the CTS.. and CTS-V is the wrong choice for your negativity. Pick on an Aveo... but only for the next coupla months.. because that's gonna be a world beater too.

I'm exagerating of course, but my point is valid imo.

Myself, if I want to go thrash on a fast car doing doughnuts, drifting corners, and finding my best 1320, I'm thinking rear passenger room might get me laughed at.....

If you HAVE to combine the two, maybe you should be focused more on need rather than desire.

But every make and model have their fandom............ each to their own....... I think the CTS-V is kinda stupid too. Why all the power in these passeger cars?
Maybe because they can, and there are people that want a passeger car that will out run just about anything else on the road. With your way of thinking ,then way do they make any car with too much power. Know one needs it. Drop the L99 and the LS3. The V-6 is all anybody really needs in a camaro. The other ones are just over kill.

What am I talking about? I'm talking about a car that a car that can be ferocious on the track, yet has a world class interior. A car whose ride quality isn't compromised by its handling.

Put simply, the Cadillac is a genuine luxury sport sedan with room in the back for nearly anyone to sit in and be comfortable, yet with performance that surpasses practically every sedan in the world. The M56 is not. And realistically speaking that limits the M56 to:

a: those who look down on Cadillac and GM
b: people need 1/2" of extra headroom
c: those who don't particularly care about the performance side of sports sedans
+1. This. Well put.

Same story different day. Cadillac builds one competitive car and you guys celebrate like you just won the Superbowl and would probably compare it to a Bentley Arnage if somebody posted something about that car. I called the GM bankruptcy well before that happened, I called it when I said that other companies would still fare much better than GM in terms of market share gains despite their get out of jail free card, and I called it when I said that GM was not in a better monetary position than their main domestic rival despite that same get out of jail free card.

Now I'm suffering fools who think the a Cadillac brand with one decent offering (that is relatively heavily discounted no less) is going to save a brand that is doing nothing of significance to improve their dealership experience. Some people just wont learn. But don't let me stop you, I'm sure this time is the charm.
