Cadilac STS

Just curious, maybe someone would know why this car is always outsold by the DTS?

I for one consider the STS to e hands down superior. And would rather own a STS than any Mercedes Benz or BMW in the same price range. However, I believe the DTS to be an outdated American Cruiser, that should really be under the Buick name.

Any thoughts? Most of you know more about cars than I do, and I love to listen.

STS is...ehh. When introduced in 2005, it was pretty technologically advanced, but by today's standards, it's outdated. CTS is a much better value overall.

I test drove a CTS Coupe last weekend and I can't get over it. It was simply one of the best cars I've ever ridden in. Fantastic ride, good sound system, and surprisingly peppy!

Fen pretty much hit it. Basically the STS isn't really much bigger and doesn't offer much more rear seat room.

Personally I always liked it. STS-V was a pretty awesome package at least in my humble opinion.

Sorry to see it go.

PERSONALLY, I love the STS.....that is why I bought one!! and I like it more than the CTS, but that is because the STS is more a luxury cruiser, where as the CTS is more of a sport model....which is which they still make a CTS-V and they discontinued the STS-V.....but hey.....I got the same engine in my STS as I have in my Camaro! and the STS crusies at 80 mph and I still get 29 mpg!!

Sir Nuke, did you just admit to exceeding the posted speed limit?

I'm pretty sure it only has a speed limit because of the national speed limit of 80mph for safety reasons (Damn you NHTSA). Same reason there's an 80mph speed limit on what was formerly known as the 'American Autobahn' in Montana.

From Wikipedia

Quote:
No speed limit

On March 10, 1996,[90] a Montana patrolman issued a speeding ticket to a driver traveling at 90 mph (145 km/h) on a stretch of State Highway 200. The 50 year-old driver was operating a 1996 Camaro with less than 10,000 miles (16,093 km) on the odometer. Although the officer gave no opinion as to what would have been a reasonable speed, the driver was convicted. The driver appealed to the Montana Supreme Court. The Court reversed the conviction in case No. 97-486 on December 23, 1998; it held that a law requiring drivers to drive at a non-numerical "reasonable and proper" speed "is so vague that it violates the Due Process Clause ... of the Montana Constitution".

WOW!! I knew there were parts on my last drive to California where you could do 75, but 80 is awesome.

We have 70 here in Michigan

By the way can anyone explain why California is all emissions crazy and has a speed limit of 70 mph and poor Fenwick's home state of Ohio has 65?

Oh and that STS sure is a nice car. But the DTS is bigger and older customers like the bigger interior and much bigger trunk. Average age for a DTS buyer is something North of 70 years old. Main stay of DTS sales.

Around here, the maximum limit is about 60 ... but in order to keep up with traffic on some highways you need to do 80.

Ahhhhh... finally a thread on my subject. i own an 2002 deville and a seville. errr owned. we just sold the SLS today.

of the two cars i take the DTS hands down. Both have reasonable interior space, quietness, handling, acceleration.

The seville is sportier. The interior is more firm. leather is lower grade. handling is only slightly better than the Deville. accleration is pretty identical with the seville a bit faster. the seville has more power. but theres more than just power.

i love to drive the Deville better than my 2011 GT, 96gt, Jeep, SLS. the Deville styling is more elegant and sophisticated. the interior noise level is lower than the SLS. The grade of leather is better and the seats more comfortable than the seville. The deville is not designed for perfomance, but is great for a car that size. 275hp is as much as a 96 Z28. I love the way the Deville makes me feel driving it. i feel class and style no other caddy has. I love its exterior look most of all of my cars.

Keep in mind i drive my stangs sideways. powershift and race them.

I wuold sell them all over the Deville if forced to. the car i would keep is the Dts.
