Couple of friends proved that in the late 90s.
1 at a time they crossed line and spent a few grand for a shiny black 5.0 and suddenly both were hot items; hot girls would just jump into the car at stop lights.

Its was sickening yet interesting but ill never do it well if I did it would be only to build a Buford, mustang body, Buick power train. Only to prove if the chassis is equal, all that is left is the power plant to prove who is best.
