A telling comment about Product...especially when you consider GM set an INDUSTRY RECORD for incentives this past quarter...

Otherwise, you paint a pretty accurate picture...

Pretty sure that is due to the incentives on Full Size Trucks. Still HUGE volume and big incentives.

So far few incentives on Camaro, Equinox, Terrain, LaCrosse, Regal, or SRX. All is going quite well.

And consider GM had sales of 10 or 12,000 Saturns and Pontiacs this time last year.

Why are you so doom and gloom lowdown. It's all going quite well for the General right now.

I would very much like to know the same thing. It seems every time I see Fen post a story with a link regarding a positive movement with regards to how GM is doing, there's a particular "doom and gloom" member right there to try to break the good news calling the story a farse. I'm not quite sure....call me confused. But, I'd like to know why the negativity too.

Is this your site? http://www.lowdownhotrods.com/
You have built some really nice cars.

Well, IMO I am happy GM has stayed around so that we all get to enjoy our Camaros.
And on the positive side my buddy is buying a new GMC Terrain for his wife this weekend.

As much as Tom could use positive promotion for his Cambridge shop, I'm afaid I have nothing to do with that particular shop.

There are THREE sides to every story/spin/press release...yours, mine, and the truth.

Fact is, GM NA, in the last 21 months, has shed over 20% of its Market Share. From 24.4% to about 19%...and is STILL trending downwards...as evidenced this past month.

So crash the cymbals, but that's symballic of something else...

As Fen himself said recently, "I wish I'd bought Ford stock!"

Those who speak up with "issues" are actually those who CARE. The "others" simply take it in stride...

Your point? I wish I'd bought Ford stock so I could make a quick buck off of it. Everyone does. I'm buying GM stock this November. Quit trying to materialize a point out of something I said.

Were your sales down 6% from August 2010 to match GM as a whole?

Ford leads pack in Canada September auto sales
October 1, 2010
Reuters

Ford of Canada raced ahead of the pack in September with sales up a whopping 63.7 percent, while rivals Toyota Canada and General Motors of Canada were stuck in reverse, seeing big declines from anemic year-earlier levels.

Ford of Canada said on Friday it recorded its best September since 1978, selling 26,453 vehicles in the month. Car sales were up 15.4 percent and truck sales up 81.2 percent.

For the year, the company is up 22 percent, building on its solid performance in 2009.

In September 2009, the Canadian auto sales were down for the 11th straight month after a tailspin induced by the financial crisis. GM and Chrysler had gone into, and come out of, bankruptcy protection, and Ford was the only major automaker to record positive sales in Canada.

“We plan to carry this momentum forward, establishing a sustainable and profitable footprint for the future,” David Mondragon, chief executive of Ford’s Canadian unit, told Reuters.

This September, overall auto sales in Canada were up 4.3 percent at 135,098 vehicles, according DesRosiers Automotive Consultants.

But Dennis DesRosiers, president of the firm, said the positive number belies the fact that massive incentives were being offered by the automakers, and that “one could actually conclude that the market is seriously underperforming”.

With Toyota and GM both recording sales drops for the month ”it results in a relatively poor overall market performance,” he said.

Sales at Toyota Canada Inc fell 22 percent to 14,563 vehicles. The company said Toyota models slumped 17.5 percent, while the luxury Lexus line was down 13.2 percent.

Sales of General Motors of Canada’s core brands — Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac — fell 8.4 percent to 13,815 vehicles. Car sales were up 67.7 percent, while truck sales fell 26.2 percent. Excluding fleet sales such as bulk sales to taxi companies and police forces, sales of GM Canada’s core brands were down 19.2 percent.

Counting all GM brands, including the ones GM is killing off as it streamlines its business, sales tumbled 24.6 percent.

Chrysler Canada said sales were up 1.8 percent. Its car sales dropped 64 percent, while truck sales jumped 20.4 percent.

Honda Canada said it sold 13,662 vehicles in September, up 10 percent from a year earlier.

The company’s Honda division’s sales rose 8 percent, while its Acura division reported a 30 percent increase.

Nissan Canada said it had the strongest September in its history, with an 18.2 percent increase in sales over a year earlier to 8,548 vehicles.

Maybe Ford stock is still a good/better inve$tment...
