Traffic Ticket Defense Attorneys are they worth it?.......YES

In July i got a speeding ticket going into Indianapolis. We were coming out of rain about a mile back so trafifc was crawling with semi's in the right lane so i did not see the speed limit drop from 70 to 65 mph. As soon as a third lane opened up i got over and proceeded to pass, didnt realize i "might" have hit 85 mph, at least thats what the state trooper said. Let me tell u, a 20 mph over 4 point ticket will ruin your summer fun. I live in MI so I decided to look into and seek the services of Wallace-Little Attorneys at Law out of Indiana. Must i say the best decision made. They got it reduced to "mechanical failure" ,( not sure what that is,but dont care), no points $180 fine. John Little did a great job and i cannot thank him enough.

Dont you think the legal system is flawed when just because you pay someone money they reduce things for you that would never happen if you didnt get a lawyer.

Usually they know eachother and just bullshit and "yeah yeah...okay sounds good". $300 later with a nod and a handshake they drop your charge down. Our legal system....for traffic anyways is all garbage.

I was at court for a reckless driving (over 80) in virgina on a highway. The guy before me was there for reckless driving on a motorcycle...which caused an accident. He had a lawyer and walked out with a $700 fine and supervision.

Me...no lawyer....$1800 fine and 6 month suspension....with a lying cop who changed around everything from what he told me when he pulled me over. Thanks great legal system.

BTW...i took a buddy off base at lunch to show him what the car could do, was on a four lane road with no cars in my lanes, I was letting off the gas at the sametime the cop saw me, bad luck, 400 bucks for a few second of fun lol, i got caught, thats what I get, and i don't do it anymore! lol

My wife was given a similar ticket when she was driving my mustang (pre camaro SS days).. The court had a different ticket that the cop wrote up and exagerated everything.. Long story about what the ticket was about in the first place but basically he pulled over the wrong car that the radar said was speeding... Because she was driving a sports car he didn't even think to go after the other car.. No lawyers.. The judge threw it out because the cop wrote a new ticket that didn't match the original one (after proof of course)

I am lost...so you had to pay the 180 ticket?

There are lawyers that will take your case for 69 for non moving violations and 89 for moving violations. You don't pay anything else regardless of the outcome unless you are required to take a traffic class..the attorneys make their money when the officer doesn't show.

What I don't get is all you have to do is take a traffic class in most states and have the points removed for about 35 bucks so why pay an attorney to only get points removed? If that is the case you are being ripped off....

But like USMC said..it is a scam. The attorneys know the judge in most cases...if the cop doesn't show they plea not-guilty and win based on attendence. If the officer shows they plea no contest and request points be removed or reduce to a minor offense...yea, the system is flawed.

Can't argue about how the legal system is flawed , most of us have probably been there.

After doing my research and adding up insurance cost for the next three years plus the ticket cost. I found that the traffic attorney was quite affordable and at least worth a try.

USMC - I was counting on the "buddy" system when i decided to go with an attorney.

All in all my cost was $105 per point. No points on my record , and learned to drive slow or at least the speed limit.

Yea, and no disrespect was meant from my reply.. I mean speeding generally is an honest mistake and as long as a lesson is learned and you mature from the incident that is the big thing..so my hat is off to you for not taking it out on the cop and accepting responsibility...most people (even on here) fail to accept that.

I personally think people will appreciate and grow more from a traffic stop if they are given a warning instead of a ticket...some...not all

I think our interstates need to be like the autobahn in germany speed at on risk with that being said they have less accidents than we do but when they do have an accident its usually life ending

So what is this "point" system you guys are talking about? Is this some new scam for the states to take your money?
