That could just be the pic though. Also, the force vector of gravity is always downward, so you're holding considerably less than half the total weight once the car is at an angle like it is once the bag is fully inflated. The physics of it makes it a great invention, but for practical use I don't know if I would trust it for anything other than a tire change. I sure as hell would not be under that car with that thing holding it up. I guess if it did burst on you, at least you'd get a nice big wiff of CO to calm you down while you get crushed
You're right, but I was being conservative ... and was looking to use nice round numbers. I figured only a portion of the top surface would be supporting the car. As for the fact that the car is at an angle, its only going to be a fairly shallow angle so the distribution isn't going to be much more than 45/55. Simplicity says ... assume 50/50.

So in reality, there is a good chance that for the average car it could easily be two psi of pressure needed. But even if its 5 psi, its not much of a problem. Thats what I was trying to get at, showing that a worst case scenario isn't all that bad.

After all of your hard weight training—some might call it carrying the groceries for her or helping her with her bags at the mall—you're in much better shape to do this work. With you out of town, and she's stranded. :(

It's a good thing that you put a special car jack in her car. Now, she can get that tire replaced with a lot less effort. Aren't you a hero?

Remember, you only need to get the side up far enough for clearance under the tire(s).

Remember, too, about a AAA membership...

That looks like an AWFUL idea.

What if the bag pops? What if the tube flys off the exhaust pipe? What if some fool rolls over that ungodly long tube? I could go on, there's so many potential issues....give me a scissor jack, please.
