That's just it. When it's working it's great. It takes everything I throw at it. Hopefully they finally decide to send me a new one.

I've decided what I'm going to do is what one of you said in your post. I have it on my dell account. So I'm telling them tonight to send me a new one or I'm not paying anymore payments on the account.(If I have to play hard ball that is).

I don't know why some of you say that nothing dell has is top of the line. This computer has one of the best processors made (I7 960, a great vid card (hd 5870), loads of memory and
a decent drive. Do you mean the motherboards , power supplies ,and the other componets? Just asking

I understand that one can build computers cheaper than buying them ,but that only works if you know how to build one properly. I only work with computers. I don't work on them like a lot of you. I wish I knew more about them to build and set one up myself.
Good choice. Thats exactly why everything short of lunch and beers at the bar is purchased on my credit card. I pay cash for nothing, for the exact ability to hammer them right back if they try to screw me.

I'll say this...if you want "top of the line", you don't go Dell.

And, yes, though I can and have built my own computers in the past, my current Falcon Northwest machine is a beast. Buying or building high end PC's is like building or buying an awesome car. You can't justify it financially, but boy is it fun to drive/use.

Probably been said but w/e...

Find a PC shop to build one for you. You'll spend less than half as much and get a lot more. Tell them you want to keep your current HD. That's all there is to it.

Less than half is a very generous assumption. Have you looked at component prices lately even at the huge discounts available online vs some pre-built machine deals through Dell and others? Yes you do save, but not half at all unless it was a crap deal to start with... And then to pay a place to build it... no way you're saving half price.

First off I have been building computers well since us geeks could.
Second I got tired of it.
Third Dell now days are great and easy to expand.
Currently own or have family members on 8 Dells, all but one bought from the outlet store with 25-30% off. Never had an issue with any but my XPS 2 laptop, screen went to shit was 1 year out of warrenty. Guess what they replaceed it no charge and paid for shipping. Current gaming machine is a Alienware Aurora liquid cooled referb, not one issue what so ever. And since the family well they call me when the computers go down, I'll keep them on Dell no issues.
But hey computers as with cars, well they arnt all built perfect, builders human arnt either.

sounds like, the power supply to me.... i just built a computer with a i7 960 and the stock fan caused it to overheat to much. so it very well could be a combination of both.

I'd ask them to replace the power supply again, noting the power crashes since it was replaced. If they haven't changed the processor, that's an option too. Have you thought about running Memtest +86 to test the memory? I'd then leave the sides off the case in an effort to keep the heat off of the internals and see if it improves. It's possible that in the environment you're in, it's still getting too hot. I7's are HOT buggers.

Well guys, I got one problem fixed ,but I still have another after another two hours on the phone with dell. My battery back up was causing the computer to shut off so that problem is fixed ,but I still have the problem with having to push the start button on then off then on again to get the computer to boot after a shut down. They did a bunch more things tonight and want me to see how it goes for a few days. They are going to call me back on sunday night. One thing I will say, the more I deal with them the happier I am with deal. Other than sending a kid that is still in school(although I don't even know if that's a bad thing) to rebuild it ,their service has been top notch.

Hope it gets sorted out soon... As for the service, when my E-machines laptop went awry, I took it in and the geeks said it had to go to California... for a bad pixel... ??? 6 weeks later, they said it was beyond repair... WTF???

So, they gave me store credit for a replacement... by that time Gateway had bought out the E-machines laptop division, so I ended up with a Gateway... Mine was a certifiable POS... It lasted 13 months and I trashed it.... Got me another Dell and no problems since they replaced the processor right after I got the thing....

Thanks, I think they're getting ahead of it. I know I'll love this computer once the bugs are worked out. I'm in the service business ,so I know how hard a-hole problems can be to find. I feel better than I did last night.
