The biggest problem with women and bikes is the rear seat.

Be willing the spend up to $1000 on a custom seat that she like and don't be worried what it look like, and she will be comfy on anything.

We all don't know what's in your head, as far as what you're looking for. Almost all of them can either be test driven or rented for a fair comparison. My opinion on a Harley is that you really don't get a feel for one unless you ride it a fair distance.

harley requires a huge security deposit to rent for a day. on top of it aint cheap. if I can find a dealer that will let me test ride I will know instantly if I like it or not.

I know victory does free test rides. I will be test riding one after I heal up from my bike accident.

I would agree with the sport-touring bikes for sure. but I know my in-laws have ridden for years on the stock seats they got with their harley. I have yet to sit on a victory with her on back so I don't know what she'll think of the seat. but we will see.

for a quick look at my riding habits. . . I put about 50+ miles every week day during the summer on my bike. on the weekends I vary a lot. I ended up putting almost 12k in the last year on the bike. That includes a 4 month stint over seas. I just love to ride. some days I get on the bike and end up putting 200 miles or more with no where to go.

if I can be comfortable at 30 degrees I would ride. and that's why I'm looking for a bike with good wind protection. that's comfortable for long distances, and can pack a weeks worth of cloths in.

Buying a motorcycle so your wife will be more comfortable on the back may lead to a lot of disappointment for you if she doesn't ride with you quite a bit. Those are great bikes but so different from the Concours. If that's the direction you wanted to go anyway, great! In the end, most people who have a spouse that pillions still end up riding solo most of the time. I know in my case we ended up putting my wife through jstars and getting her her own bike so we can each ride what we wanted.

I have an '08 HD Electraglide Classic. Great for touring with my wife. Both of us are very comfortable. Just did 2,600 miles in 7 days touring Nova Scotia. I've been riding for over 40 years, this is by far the most comfotable bike I've ever owned for 2 up riding.

don't know anyone who didn't end up with a saddlemen, mustang or a custom made seat.

all may feel comfy at first but only a hr plus in the saddle will tell if the lady will like it.

Since you had a Connie have you considered a BMW? They've done a nice job with their sport touring bikes and include the features like the heated grips, adjustable fairing and such.
Would you be happy with a cruiser like a Harley, Victory, Royal Star after the Connie? All the bikes mentioned are great cruisers but certainly quite different than what you had. The BMW may fill the bill the best, power and speed plus the creature comforts.

BTW, I ride a '01 Geezer-Glide and came close to trading off it for a Beemer or Connie but decided I was better off on something more suited to a person my age

Yep thats the one I forgot, all are very similar, its the material used inside that makes them all pricy.

Here is an ugly custom made one I know of, but they can ride it for hrs at a time without a break. [looks wasn't first on their list, its been named a beached whale to sit upon.]

The Virago n Maxim were off shoots of the XS line, the Virago's went Vtwin that turned into the v-Star / Star Warrior line. And the Maxim a inline 4 went in that direction. And was the best of both worlds, as its a V4

I actually have a maxim front-end on my Virago to improve its sport ability even more [forks are a bit shorter] though still all stock the Virago is one of the only true dual sports bikes [though not sold as one], raved on by all the bike mags as it looks like a cruiser but head onto those twisty back roads and it will give even the most modern full sports bike a run for its money and leave the HDs in the dust.

my 07 street glide, i added a quick disconnect seat and backrest, and also quik disconnect tour pak...been across country 3 times from n.y. and bike runs and is super comfy. you cant go wrong with the new street glide, frame has big time improvement.. have fun...ryd..
