I think the wrong emphasis is being placed on the price. I, personally, am not saying that the GT500 is better because of the price.
I am simply saying with these two cars specifically, I expect the Vette to be faster, better. Because you are paying for it. Also,, food for thought, look at the trap speeds. That is a good indication of who has more room for improvement on ET in the 1/4 mile. Both are great cars. If the Vette would get a facelift, and an interior change, i would be more inclined to want one, but as of right now, the GT500 has more of my attention. Both are out of my price range at the moment. Maybe in about 5 years, when I get rid of some debt and save up some money. I might be looking more at these cars.

If you can bare the irony, I guess if strict, by the numbers convenience/livability/ergonomics of the vehicle were all that mattered we would all by driving a luxo-liner, Oldsmo-Buicks with 4 doors, large truck and seating for 6. The comparison is performance. Not convenience. It doesn't matter how hard the car is to live with. How the car feels is a subjective comparison. If you want to compare convenience, start your own thread. My 74 year old father, who has had knee surgery, and loads golf clubs in the back of the car 3 times a week, has lived with the car for 10 years. Maybe your skirt is getting in the way. |

Remember guys it is all opinion here! THese cars are close enough it could either way just depending on a certain mags priorities.
That said, I do wish the Grand Sport had been an 11 as there is one big difference, the magnetic shocks on the 11. From what I have read, they give the GS more than a little additional grip and even better steering feel. I demand a rematch

![]() And imho the curb weight advantage of 460lb towards the GS makes up for the GT500 higher bhp So the point about the GT500 being more powerful is moot Quote:
And I agree with the Fact that if you was to put another 13k into the GT500.. it will murder almost everything on the road.. shit all it takes is 5k

I suggest you pull out the Kool Aid i.v. drip. ...and I do so how love how the faithful will defend the extraordinarily sub par steering feel and always not quite sorted dynamics of the Vette by screaming 'subjectivity'. I suppose that, based on subjectivity, somebody actually thinks that the status quo regarding what makes fine food fine is actually wrong and that, a Hardee's cheeseburger, is the pinnacle of fine food and should be served in the finest restaurants. Of course, that person is a fool.... Last edited by syr74; 09-17-2010 at 12:26 PM. Reason: steering feel response |

how about we do a little real world math: 2011 gt500 weight: 3820 2011 cts-v coupe: 4255 2011 gt500 hp: 550 2011 cts-v hp: 556 are you going to tell me that by some magic... the cts-v coupe is making up for 435lbs of weight with only 6hp? what your seeing in the video is exactly what motor trend wants, you to get all excited that you bought the better car. next month, the gt500 will win so the other side gets theirs. dont be a dullard when it comes to believing what you see on the internet... makes you to be a fan boy. p.s. the only advantage that the cts-v series actually carries that helps with 0-60 and 1/4 miles is the gearing... first gear on a cts-v coupe is 4.15 with a 4.05 final! hope you like your 12mpg...

I personally don't like the "make up the difference in price with modifications and see what happens.
Because I can build a car for a small fraction of the cost of either of these two cars (based off their MSRP) and murder them in the quarter mile. What does that prove? I say absolutely nothing! You aren't buying a stripped out Foxbody Mustang with a High Power Engine and a roll cage and chute. you are buying a brand new, modern, warrantied car with all the amenities that one would expect with that price tag.

My whole point is there needs to be a qualifier as to what the comparison is. is the comparison steering feel, price, performance, ergonomics, etc... As to the comfort features... maybe you have heard of a car from Lotus called the Elise / Exige. If you want to compare subjective things, we can't and won't come to an agreement, based on personal preference. |

This is how you drive a GT500. BTW, that was a 12.02 @ 119.9 mph run in 95+ degree Florida heat. |

I am not saying it can't happen or anything like that.
Just the guy in the motortrend video, that looks like he has never even seen a human female nipple in real life, can't drive to save his life. I could have ate lunch in the time it took him on that 1st to 2nd shift. |

Price as TESTED means they optioned the GS damn near to Z06 prices.. which, if it had of been a Z06.. there would have been no question as to who the winner was. ONCE AGAIN.. OPTIONED. Point is U can't compare prices of optioned cars as tho it were a determinant. U compare base prices |
