Yes, its either praise or silence. He praised them. Seems like a rather important little detail.

And no, its not his job to give praise, his is job to sell cars. And AutoNation is primarily a network of foreign brands with relatively few domestic stores, and of the domestic stores I believe Chrysler is under-represented compared to their market share. So for him to promote Chrysler would actually hurt their net sales. Doesn't sound like a smart move when he could easily just decline the interview all together.

I don't believe he willfully made himself and his company lose money because Chrysler's products are just that good. He's nothing more than a typical pundit. He made money off those words and he doesn't have to believe them to be true or not.

Only time will tell if they really are 'that good' or not. Given their track record and this new lineup is just more of the same bad designs of SUV's and rental cars that no one wants, they will fail again.

Not McElroy, the one that was actually interviewed around the 1 minute mark, Mike Maroone. He's the President and Chief Operating Officer for a dealership network that has more to lose than gain by praising Chrysler. Think about it, Chrysler represents a very small portion of AutoNation sales, they are under-represented compared to their market share. They will likely lose sales to other dealers if Chrysler's market share picks up. He has no good reason to say anything positive unless he believes it. The best move he could make, business wise, is to say absolutely nothing on camera.

Do you even remember the mid/late 90s when CHrysler was basically leading the industry not only in tech but in profit? THe origionbal LH cars, the 94 Ram, the 97 Dakota, the 1st gen Neon, the 96 minivans, 1st and second gen Grand CHerokees? All were industry leaders, many were actually consumer Reports picks, and they offered quality and driving dynamics equal too or better than the industry. Now they are away from Daimler and Cerberus which was and is the causes of all their issues. We have a few older mopars and my 07 Patriot, the degrading in interior quality caused by Daimler is wholly evident, though the corrected that with a pretty high quality interior in the 09s and take it even further in the 11s. You are spouting an opinion, not fact and I doubt you have owned any Chryslers to even spout about their quality.

What Chrysler made 15 years ago means nothing. My personal experience with Chrysler also means nothing.

What means something is the consistently subpar ratings that virtually all of their new and late model products received. Their massive debt and far too optimistic sales #'s that were told to Congress in order for their illegal bailout also matters.

Here is how it will go in the next 5-10 years, depending on government interference:
The economy is corrected and we experience the proper depression the US deserves. Chrysler will not meet the projected sales goals that got them the bailout money. Fiat will essentially welch on their bet and back out because of this. Chrysler goes through a real bankrupcy and is sold off in various pieces.

Yes, you said they have always had subpar vehicles, that is incorrect, the subpar vehicles were actually from around maybe 2002 when daimler designed and botched vehicles started hitting the lots and SUBPAR? the first volleys of their new/refreshed/redesigned vehicles have been the Ram and Grand Cherokee, and gues what? RAVE reviews, great build build quaity. You aer trying to count them out without even giving them a chance. Again, your guesses and opinions are NOT facts.

I've just started ignoring everything this guy says (alrox, not you Stew). Unless I see facts to back up someones opinion (especially on the interwebz) I just laugh and move on.
