P.S. leasing a vehicle is DUMB

Dave Ramsey quote: "say you lease a $22,000 car for three years, and when you turn it in at the end of the lease the car is worth $10,000, someone has to cover the $12,000 loss. your fleece/lease payment is designed to cover that loss in value ($12,000 spread over 36 months is $333 per month), plus provide profit (the interest you pay). on top of that there is the charge of 10 to 17 cents per mile for going over the allotted miles, plus "excessive wear and tear" for every little nick, dent, carpet tear, smudge, or smell. the whole idea of the back-end penalties is twofold: to get you to fleece/lease another one so you can painlessly roll the gotchas into the new lease. after you factor all of that, the average interest rate of a leased car is 14 percent."

the average interest on a new financed car is half of that! the only reason dealerships push people to lease is because they make more profit off of them in the long run.
that is the dumbest way of looking at a lease i have ever seen.

you sir, are fail.

//edit

and this is the dumbest way of pointing that out... without adding reasons initially. my deepest appologies.

This is the dumbest dumbing of a dumb I have ever dumbed.

You sir, are dumb.

Also, for the record:

Parent needing assistance: Don't you know that if a car is used this means that it was someone else headache?

Just wanted to warn you guys.

I must have been a mistake/broken condom if that's the logic they use when they buy a car.

That's hardly nitpicking. Both of those things are very important. Fen don't take it personally every time someone doesn't like what you like.

Just throwing this out there 2010/11 Ford Escape. I currently drive an 07 Mazda Tribute (same thing as an Escape) with a 4 banger. Yeah it won't push you back in your seat but you can pass fairly easily. You can see out of it surprisingly well. Options for a V6 and all wheel drive (you mentioned sliding in snow). Hope that helps although I do believe you are rapidly approaching the point of telling them they are big kids now and they can make their own choice

I'm INCREDIBLY shocked by the reaction to the Equinox...it's no racecar, but even in 4-banger version, it's got some kick....and "chinsey"?

But if sticker-shock is the big detraction of the Enclave, what about the Traverse? It's the same sort of vehicle, with less of a cost.

Beyond that...I invite your parents to test-drive these vehicles, and lighten up!!! (No offense intended...all good fun.)

Spare me. I've been in both a Terrain and Equinox and found the seats supportive and visibility decent. His parents haven't even driven the damn car yet to form such an opinion. They're being ridiculous and even Zabo knows it.

touchy aren't we

Just saying, people aren't a-holes ,dumb, or naive just because they find something wrong with the cars you like. You give a lot of very well thought out posts and a lot of good info to the folks on this form ,but I've read post after post of you being very hard on people for saying things that make the cars you like not look so good. I think it's great that you have a deep passion for GM and what they make ,hell for all I know you might work for them, ,but it's no reason to give cheap shots to people that find something wrong with a GM car.
I don't care what you say know body makes a perfect car and know body makes a car that everyone is going to like. Remember the old saying "There's a seat for every hiney.

That's exactly what I'm saying. There isn't a perfect car out there and his parents need to figure that out. And again, they haven't even driven the car yet. It annoys me to hell and back when people make up their minds about a car without driving it or even riding in it.

That's true ,but If they were looking at a toyota and said the same thing you would have praised them for it. That's all I meant. It doesn't really matter. I do enjoy what you post about new products and everything you seem to know in the car world. I didn't mean to rock the boat. It was just an observation that I should of just kept to myself. Sorry.
