Mentioned the suggestions to them this morning and got the following:

Cars are no longer being considered at all.
Jeeps are too cheap and tinny.
Explorer too far off to be considered.

Lost cause?

THey should really try a Liberty or even a Patriot. I believe the 11 Patriots will be out by November and they are DAMNED sharp. Mine has been a good vehicle, best vehicle I have ever had in the snow, but I would not get a pre 09 because the interior is a night and day difference and the 11 is even better.

whu? Me thinks you should take them to a Jeep dealership for some test drives (tell them you're going somewhere else to lure them in lol)

How did they not like the Equinox? I think this is a case of the worst taste ever. They probably think the Camaro is hideous but love the Toyota Sienna.

They love the look but can't drive it. Nox hatred still throws me for a loop. They also see Toyota as the devil.

Steal their car and put them in a 92 Corsica or Tempo for a couple of months. They will take anything after that.

you can easily find a good 1-2 year old vehicle in their price range. for a daily driver, what is the point of having a brand new vehicle? none. its just a way to get from one place to another, so why waste more money on new when you can get a fully loaded used one for the same price as a stripped down new one?

P.S. leasing a vehicle is DUMB

Dave Ramsey quote: "say you lease a $22,000 car for three years, and when you turn it in at the end of the lease the car is worth $10,000, someone has to cover the $12,000 loss. your fleece/lease payment is designed to cover that loss in value ($12,000 spread over 36 months is $333 per month), plus provide profit (the interest you pay). on top of that there is the charge of 10 to 17 cents per mile for going over the allotted miles, plus "excessive wear and tear" for every little nick, dent, carpet tear, smudge, or smell. the whole idea of the back-end penalties is twofold: to get you to fleece/lease another one so you can painlessly roll the gotchas into the new lease. after you factor all of that, the average interest rate of a leased car is 14 percent."

the average interest on a new financed car is half of that! the only reason dealerships push people to lease is because they make more profit off of them in the long run.

Ok, after RJ2SS' post I forwarded via email two Rainiers that I found nearby. One an I6, the other a Vortec 5.3 V8 with AFM ver. 2007. Both CXL trim and AWD.

Fen, whatcha got as far as the good and bad? They look comfortable and stylish enough; similar size to the Edge.
