Thumbs down Parents need a car; driven up a wall. Halp.

As the title states I've already suggested a plethora of vehicles for them to consider since their lease on a 2007 Ford Edge is coming up in November. It's driven me up a wall in "OMFGWTFBBQIDIENAO"..

As I've said before in the past; they friggin hate the Edge as a mode of transportation. I'd bore you with an extensive list but the primary balks from them are comfort and 'passing power' aka the ability to pass something with more than 6 wheels.

So far I suggested the following. The responses followed:

2010 Equinox: Too chinsey and no better than the edge
2010 Malibu: No Cars
2010 Taurus: Comfy, but no cars strike dos
2010 Fusion: Actually pops idea at first but after renting one.. neeext
2010 Edge: How do you say "Die in a fire" in a 'parent-son' kind of way?
2010 Enclave: "Ohh ni-" *dies from stickershock*
2010 CTS: See above
2010 Acadia: See above
2010 Focus: Right price, but too chinsey.. it's also a car (FOR F'KS SAKE WHAT YOU YOU THINK YOU"RE GETTING FOR 15K! in 2011!)

Previous 'loved cars'

2000-2003 Dodge Durango.
1992 Olds Silhouette.

Prior to that we're talking my age driving 69-79 Camaro straight sixes and one Z/28. Intervening years filled with crappy carb'd 307 olds cutlasses.

They won't go foreign (thank christ..) and only want to spend around 320/mo on a lease. Need to sit at least Edge/Equinox height and it needs to be available for lease/purchase by early November. I'm thinking this is going to exclude most of the new '12 vehicles which they happen to like.

Man, typing this thing out just makes me need some aspirin. Help or 'lol' if you want. At this point I'm at the latter and they're saying 'I'm no help' yet still ask "Wat Car Iz Gud."

Sat in one at NAIAS 10 and apparently weren't impressed. I don't get it either. Said it felt like sitting on a lawn chair hunched over and couldn't see.

Yes, roll your eyes like I am as I type this. My gene pool; a case study in stupidity.

I'll lol. But wasn't the upcoming Volt like $350 per month lease? That might be a good one for them.

lolwut?

Tell them to buy a horse and buggy and be done with it if they're going to nitpick over everything. Not every car is going to be perfect, they're going to have to make compromises.

Close.. I told them to get a Rav4. Told you it was headache inducing..

And the Volt would probably make THEM lolwut. It'd take them years to grasp the idea that the engine doesn't really power anything but a generator..

"So is it front wheel or rear wheel.. won't we get stuck in the snow?"

Speaking of which I just remembered that they keep joking with me about seriously getting a Camaro.

I mean she actually LIKED the Camaro's seats and ergonomics (yeah.. I just used that 4 letter word). Just not the visibility *cue price is right lose horn*. Or lack thereof. They can afford a 2LT on a lease with backup sensors and automatic.

I told them that I got it stuck and unstuck in a snowbank behind a dealership in the dead of winter with TC off. They still don't believe me.

Ya know; when we take the Edge in next week for a post lease inspection I'm just going to tell them either find a car on your own or don't cry to me because my choices are Camaro, Equinox, and Traverse.

Can't afford Buick. Can't afford Lincoln. Can't afford Caddy. So you can't afford the cush you want. Yet they still think it's 1991.. <_<

They should be able to afford a Regal or 4 banger LaCrosse. They start at about the same price as a 2LT Camaro.

Jeeps are out of the question. She wont drive one.

Not sure if this is their style of car but they might give the 2011 Chevy Cruze a look. I haven`t seen one in person so I can`t speak to the fit & finish. It is a 4 banger with a 138 hp turbo option.
