That Focus kinda looks like Scion TC but it doesn't look familiar. What is it supposed to be?
It's the European Focus. There are two different versions as of 2010-2011:

US Spec ('08):

And Euro Spec ('08):

I suggested they did. They tested it, and said it was no better than the Edge comfort, visibility wise, etc. I, unfortunately, agreed. It seems that interiors are cheapening as far as material use. Less cush, more 'posh'. I told them just to get a used DTS/GM/Towncar and be done with it; they declined saying they didn't want a car.

I know.

Already told 'em too that they're NOT getting the keys to the T/A nor bumming a ride to work from me.

No Blindspot 'assistance'
Shift points programed at the damndest spots for long 'fuel sipping' gears.
Averages 19mpg if you're lucky (Same engine)
Fit and finish are not an issue
Ergonomics and comfort for long hauls (NW ohio to Trenton NJ and back) for 4 adults obviously another story.

All in all it looks cute but I think without the newer blindspot dohickies you'd find that it's hard to see cars coming up on ya. And IMO there is no support in those seats and the odd forward jut of the headrests coupled with the low back bucket seats give for awkward seating.

And I've had multiple people confirm that my old Explorer (2001) with it's base sound system sounded BETTER than the 'optional top of the line' system in the Edge; even after I programmed it to be as close to the Explorers.

Even my 'old' Monsoon 500 Watt sounds just as good if not better in some places. If they had the shaker option available then it'd be no contest..

We've just hated this thing from month two. After the newness wore off it just became a chore to drive in. Couple that with my mother having neck and back issues the seating of the Edge just exacerbates the problem.

In the end we've pretty much ruled out the following as well:

Fusion: Just as 'bad' a ride when they rented a 2010 in NJ.
Focus: too small
Taurus: Close but cuts into their savings too much for what they want
Explorer: Not in time for lease expiration
Flex: Flat out hate

It's a pity because with the Z plan we get a good chunk off the sticker, but Ford's not doing it for us.. again.

And for the record: GM isn't doing it nor is Chrysler. And they won't set foot into a foreign dealership even at gunpoint.

TL;DR: My parents pretty much hate all the new cars.
Not everyone likes the same vehicle thats for sure. I'm not some Ford Edge LOVER. I just think it is a great family car, and comfurtable on our long trip.

Sounds like we have had two different experiences for sure.

Good luck with replacing it

The Buick Enclave (I think it is called)

seemed really nice on the show room floor, alittle pricey though.

They wanted that one BAD.. that or an Acadia. But it's out of their price range. Any used one they found had been abused to hell and back to the tune of being 2 years old and 50K miles.

If you're being annoyed by this incessant 'but they don't like it' whining just think how it must be in person when you offer an idea and get the same response..

I'm about at the f'k it point now.. thanks for the good luck wishes, but a bottle of aspirin would probably do more good. :/

Well that is sad. I guess go ahead and make an AWD 300+hp Focus that was the RS in Europe here.

It's not.

They just can't use RS because it's tied to GM here in the states as far as I know. All they did was change it from Rally Sport to Sport Touring.. or something like that. Euro RS will be a direct translation into a Euro/US ST Focus. Why they can't use GT like the Mustang and build something akin to the SS 'brand'..

Remember that GM is also selling the Cruze RS in Europe so imagine the rights battle that might pop up there over 'RS'.

It's not like GTO.. which I still don't get.

Oh I don't mean it was sad not calling it an RS anymore.

Just sad it went from 305hp/320ish tq to 247hp. Hopefully they just make a SVT version with the same 300+hp/tq.

The ST will be middle ground like in Europe, all the RS suspension goodies(excluding the engine and RS unspecific parts) at half the price.
the RS will provably be re-badge SVT Focus in the states.
